Does Romans 13 require unquestioning submission to governmental authority under all circumstances? As the United States of America drifts alarmingly closer to a police state, Christians need to re-examine their relationship to their government in light of the scriptures and the nature of American constitutionalism.

  22. Selecting a Leader: A biblical perspective by Allen Scott
Let's face it-selecting a President may not be a matter of life or death, but making the wrong choice as to whom you listen too when making life altering decisions literally could be. If we, like John the baptist, doubt the validity of Jesus' claims we could be making an eternal decision with hellacious consequences. It is therefore important to ask the question, are you the one or should we seek another.

  28. A Soft Answer by Shakera Reid-Stewart
I recently submitted a poem entitled "Vote for Change, Not History" and received an alarmingly hostile response from a fellow writer. I've matured enough as a Christian to know that if you offend someone, or if they offend you, the right course of action is to look within to see if you are in the wrong and then pray for guidance to approach them the proper way. Although it is clear that this individual completely misquotes me and makes assumptions that should not be made, I do realize that as Christians we should hold each other accountable for our words and deeds. This is a public response for those who may have interpreted the poem the way that he did.

  29. VOTE FOR CHANGE, NOT HISTORY (2008) by Shakera Reid-Stewart
Know where you stand and why you stand there when voting. We all have a voice and we should use it. The issues as a whole, as well as the improvement of the country and the people in it should be our major concern. We have to learn to look at the big picture and do what's best. We all know that there is no perfection when it comes to politics so we can't just focus on one or two issues. No one can tell you who to vote for, just vote for the person for the right reasons. Pray for discernment!
