Openly Godless People Preach to Churchgoers
The best medicine for the masses who openly reject the westernized church is truth. God's design is that the straightforward truth about His Son is sufficient to save even the most adamantly lost person. So is this same medicine, the straight truth, any less appropriate for those who are consistent churchgoers? How can I tell those who are openly alienated from God to look at Christ, but please ignore those who claim to follow Him?
If anything, worldly people who openly reject the church or God have one up on delusional churchgoers who claim to follow Christ and yet deny Him with their daily lives. (Isn't this the definition of delusion, if a person is convinced of one thing when reality is obviously something else, and deep down that person knows it too?)
To their credit, those who reject the church do so openly and therefore embrace what they truly believe with their daily lives. Their outward, Godless lives accurately reflect their miserable, callused hearts. C.H. Spurgeon, the great English preacher, drew attention to the tragedy of churchgoers who torture themselves by living a two-faced existence. He stated appropriately, that such people will be among the most viciously tortured souls in hell. Those who skipped happily all the way to their eternal torment in Hades will have at least one outlet for their agony, and that will be to ridicule all the religious hypocrites who claimed to be Godly, who tried to conceal their corrupt insides by putting on a really good show only to end up receiving the same eternal wages as openly Godless men.
Many overtly rebellious people know in their consciences, even without ever attending Sunday school or seminary, that the things mainstream Christianity labels "Christian" have little to do with Christ. They realize that churchgoers' glorious claims do not match their diminutive quality of life. They acknowledge that the church's petty, religious inventions in no way reflect the Living God, if, in fact, He is living. In this way, Godless people are oftentimes insightful about the things that should be common sense to seasoned churchgoers.
Many Godless people are realistic enough to admit that, if Almighty God is truly almighty, then He embodies more than what has become the centerpieces of mainstream Christianity. From historical blunders to counterfeit Christian subculture, it is not difficult to imagine why the inconsistencies of mainstream religion are blatantly obvious to the general masses. Because the un-churched have nothing to lose, therefore they are willing to be honest about what is impotent or downright destructive to the cause of Christ.
What then remains for us if we sincerely want to know Christ in this day and age?
The Godless majority's consistent rebelliousness should spark an even more sincere thirst in our souls to seek out and draw near to Christ. As the wandering masses cling ever more tenaciously to their miserable emptiness, we should continue in increasing, humble expectancy to seek out the truth concerning Christ, whether or not He really is God's Divine Substance, available to us if we keep seeking, asking and knocking.
At what point do I look at my own life and ask, "Has this spiritual Revolutionary named Jesus Christ influenced my life? Has He affected my heart and soul or not? Is He the Messiah, the Chosen One of God to me? Is He my Savior, truly? Hmmm... if He was all those things then, I suppose this would spill out into my quality of life once in a while. If Christ was my heavenly Savior, then I suppose the people who know me would be able to tell."
But who is sufficient for these things? None of us can choose all of a sudden to be spiritually useful to God. This means, practically speaking, that we shouldn't try to guilt-trip ourselves into a higher level of spirituality. Christ alone can make us spiritually useful. He alone can fit us into His kingdom orchestration on earth.
