SOUL DANCE (excerpt): Three Ways You Can Hear From God

What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him? -- Deuteronomy 4:7, NIV

God is very near. He loves you, and wants to deepen His relationship with you. He sees your heart to know Him, and to do His will. He will help you, and most of all, to know that He loves you beyond compare!

He is wooing and waiting for us to acknowledge and admire and appreciate Him. He loves us so very much that He died for us on the cross, so we could be free and fulfilled!

¹⁰The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). - John 10:10, AMPC

I have heard more than one well-respected minister state that God is always speaking; we just need to hear Him.

So how to we hear from the LORD?

There are many ways, and as you grow closer to the LORD in the unique relationship with Him (that no other on the planet will share just like the one you have with Christ Jesus!), you will learn His ways, be more sensitive to His Spirit, and better understand what He is communicating to you. Hallelujah!

21 And since we have [such] a great and wonderful and noble Priest [Who rules] over the house of God, 22 Let us all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty (evil) conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water.- Hebrews 10:21-22, AMPC

Here are three ways you can hear from God:

(1) Read the Bible and regularly attend a Bible-based church. God's Word is God's will! It is His Love Letter to us all! In His effort to reach the world with the message of His Love and Grace, He has given people wisdom to translate the Bible into many languages and versions and formats!

Whether you use a hard copy Bible, audio version, video version, etc., reading (and especially writing out and speaking the Scriptures out loud) the Bible will help wash the mud of the world from your mind, and cause you to start thinking more like God; be better able to hear His wonderful Voice!

Also, listening to Bible-based teaching and preaching, and even serving in a local Bible-based Church body can help you hear the Voice of God better, because being in an atmosphere where His Holy Spirit is welcome makes it easier to tune your mind and ears to His!

The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out. - John 10:3, AMPC

(2) Pray. God is a faithful Father, and loves it when we talk to Him (which is basically what prayer is)! One can't really have a relationship without communication. Our prayers do not have to be fancy or long. Just like any loving parent hears their child(ren)'s cry, the LORD our Father hears and answers.

However, just like when our parents expect us to be thankful and show them love, when we start off thanking the LORD with gratitude for His mercy and faithfulness and other lovingkindnesses to us, that gets our hearts in the right attitude for prayer (because usually, "prayer" means we are asking for something from the LORD), and blesses our dear darling Daddy God!

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name! 5 For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations. - Psalm 100:4-5, AMPC

(3) Worship. This can be to Bible-based music, or simply praising and thanking Him (preferably out loud, where the holy angels can also hear it. One of their main reasons for existence is to worship God, and they can help us with that!). Actually, everything we do can be an act of worship!

God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).- John 4:24, AMPC

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. - I Corinthians 10:31, AMPC

There are other ways you can learn to hear the Voice of God, such as in nature; through media; through other people; through circumstances; etc., but these are not nearly as dependable as the Word, prayer, and worship.

Your Father (once you have repented of your sins and received the LORD Jesus Christ, His Son, as your Savior and LORD, of course! John 3:15-17; Romans 3:23, 6:23, and 10:13, along with Romans 5:6) will help you, through His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ Jesus in you. He is the Good Shepherd, and always helps those of us who truly seek Him! Hallelujah!

Even before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear. - Isaiah 65:24, Berean Standard Bible

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. - John 14:26, ESV

You can hear from God. You have already heard from God, for He led you to read this article, and you are hearing from Him right now! See? YOU CAN DO THIS!
