SONLIGHT IN MY SOUL TODAY

Thought:  During my Sunday School years, I used to sing a little song that went like this:  “Sunlight, Sunlight in my soul today, sunlight all along the way, since the Savior found me, took away my sin, I have had the SONLIGHT of his love within.”

Just a summary of that bright, warm star that shines out giving life to all things.

It’s 865,000 miles wide...110 times the diameter of Earth

Light from the sun reaches earth in about 8 minutes

The sun’s temperature is around 9,941 degrees Fahrenheit

The sun’s core is around 1360000 degrees Celsius

The strong magnetic field deflects charged particles from solar winds

If it was a fraction away from planet Earth, we would freeze and one fraction closer we would burn up.

Col. 1:17 “He was before all else began and it is his power that holds everything together.”

Now we’ll talk about the Son of God who is the Creator of this ball of light that sustains all life on Earth.

Jesus is the light of the world

I John 1:5 “This is the message God has given us to pass on to you:  that God is Light and in him is no darkness at all.”

John 12:46 “I have come as a Light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer wander in the darkness.

John 8:12 “Later, in one of his talks, Jesus said to the people, “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.  So, if you follow me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path.”

Math. 5:14-16 “You are the world’s light-a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see.  Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.”

How to live in God’s light

  1. Pray every day. Experience that one-on-one conversation with the Holy One.
  2. Study the scriptures, the foundation to discernment.
  3. Show the love of Jesus to all those around you.
  4. Connect with other believers on a regular basis.

Prayer:  Father God, teach me every day how to live in your light.  Amen

Verse:  Phill. 2:14-16 “In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing, so that no one can speak a word of blame against you.  You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of people who are crooked and stubborn. Shine out among them like beacon lights, holding out to them the Word of Life.”
