MY WITNESS FOR 2Corinthians 12:9

by linzy bruno

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2Corinthians 12:9)

God has not only provided me with the emotional and spiritual strength to get through my infirmities, while helping me keep a good countenance, He has also provided His Strength for me physically.

With that being said, it's noteworthy to add that God's Provision of Strength is not equivalent to healing. The infirmity remains, however, He provides relief for the purpose of doing His work and in our striving for the fulfillment of the general needs for self, church and family. So that when He says 'GO,' we may go in security and confidence.

I always thought this verse referred solely to endurance, but I can attest to God’s Strength providing me with energy when I haven’t slept for days and causing me to feel good when I’m out somewhere in public as compared to when I’m home, even if I’m having a bad time just prior to leaving the house; I’m mainly referring to my digestive issues. But He covers me in any and all of my physical ailments when I’m keeping my countenance by not letting my discomforts hinder me from doing what He puts on my heart to do. And, He not only covers me, He makes me know it’s Him who is doing the covering, because of the consistency of His Cover.

This is personal evidence of God’s Glory working in my body and my life in general, as well as proof that the Apostle Paul was referring to God’s Divine intervention of strength in all 3 of our trip-parts that make up our being. Praise the LORD!

I used to attribute God’s supernatural aid in my body to His Goodness and Love and possibly even that He has made a covenant promise to me to, as I usually put, ‘have my back.’ However, inasmuch as Paul did suffer from many very painful ailments from being beaten by his haters, and other causes, a physical aspect of God’s Cover comes into view, which is something he explains to his listeners in a previous verse. *Paul was able to continue doing what God called him to, because He relieved or possibly even removed Paul’s pain and provided him with the energy he needed when he was worn out from beatings, to travel in order to plant churches, preach, be there for his friends, help others and so on:

“Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep;” (2Corinthians 11:25)

Our God is SO good. He knows just how to take perfect care of His children:

“The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.” (Psalm 138:8)

And He does it, in accordance with His Perfect Will for each of us. Sometimes we suffer, but there’s always a purpose in it, to gain insight, to experience His Glory, to grow in Him, to discover more reasons for gratitude, and countless other personal matters we may then come to better understand:

“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.” (1Peter 5:10)

“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2Corinthians 12:10)

“My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26)

“He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.” (Isaiah 40:29)

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1Peter 5:7)

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

“I  can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 8:26)

And, the Spirit of our God even works behind the scenes on our behalf when our prayers are even weakened due to our trial/s:

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26)

And, the Bible also provides evidence that our attitude does affect the outcomes in the matter of weakness:

“A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)

Not only all of this, we can even have joy as we go through our trials and ailments, ect….

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
