NEW BLOOMS

A dear sister in Christ

gave me a plant to water.

She told me to anticipate great height,

and as the stems of that plant slowly lengthen,

I recall a verse

to love You Lord

with all my might.

 

And, so as I behold the beauty of that orchid,

as a heavenly sign for my heart to expand;

a craving for patience in wisdom wells within me,

for the flame of my fire to be fanned.

 

Oh Lord, my love for You keeps me in passion,

to do all Your good pleasure

to obey and serve,

and all the while I’m saying thank You

for such great kindness;

I know richly, I do not deserve.

 

For this delicate bloom did attach to my heart strings

and I pray You give to me

the amount of water to keep its stature warm,

and lift me up in love as I soar in my spirit;

forever flying high

and free above the storm.

 

And, as I gaze upon those new blooms,

and rejoice over the favor of my Gracious Lord,

I swell with gratitude over His glorious witness;

God with me,

as I abide in His Accord.

To abound in love

with all my might.

 

“Jesus said to him, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37, nkjv)
