HYPOCRITES SHOULD BE CORRECTED, REBUKED OR DISCIPLINED OPENLY (PUBLICLY)* *(i) PAUL CORRECTED PETER PUBLICLY* Gal 2:11-14 NIV *11 When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. 12 Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined him in his HYPOCRISY, so that by their HYPOCRISY even Barnabas was led astray. 14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I SAID TO PETER IN FRONT OF THEM ALL, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?* When Paul saw that Peter was acting in hypocrisy publicly, he challenged or confronted him publicly. He didn't call him privately to speak with him. No, not at all. Rather, he addressed the matter openly. It's noteworthy that he neither abused nor condemned him. But, he corrected him in love publicly. Ephesians 4:15 KJV *BUT SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE,* may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: *(ii) JESUS REBUKED JOHN THE BAPTIST PUBLICLY INDIRECTLY IN ABSENTIA* Matt.11:2-15 NIV *2 When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples 3 - to ask him, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?" 4 - Jesus replied, "Go back and report to John what you hear and see: 5 - The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. 6 - Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me." 7 - AS JOHN'S DISCIPLES WERE LEAVING, JESUS BEGAN TO SPEAK TO THE CROWD ABOUT JOHN: "What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 8 - If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings' palaces. 9 - Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.10 - This is the one about whom it is written: "'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.' 11 - I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.12 - From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. 13 - For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 - And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.15 - He who has ears, let him hear.* The same John the Baptist that revealed or introduced Jesus to Israel and affirmed that he was the Lamb of God who took away the sin of world, at the hour of tribulation, doubted the authenticity of Jesus as the Son of God and Saviour of the world! John 1:29-37 KJV *The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. [30] This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. [31] And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. [32] And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. [33] And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. [34] And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. [35] Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; [36] And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! [37] And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.* Undoubtedly, he expected Jesus to have rescued him from prison. But, when he didn't, he was offended. He felt that after all, he baptized Jesus and revealed Him to Israel; so the same Jesus should have come quickly to his aid when he needed Him most! Actually, he heard of the exploits of Jesus from prison, and sent his disciples questioning the unquestionable God about the genuineness of His identity and mission. Jesus told John's disciples to go and tell him the results of His ministry that they could both see and hear — miracles, healings and preaching! Unexpectedly, John exuded or displayed doubt (double-mindedness) coated with hypocrisy and brewed by self-importance rooted in pride in Matthew 11. [Have you ever felt you are more important than you really are? Have you ever felt the Lord cannot do without you? Have you ever felt you are indispensable or irreplaceable? Jesus said: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: *FOR WITHOUT ME YE CAN DO NOTHING.* John 15:5 KJV You see, we cannot do without Him, but He can do without us if He so chooses. One of my teachers said, "God has been doing fine before you came on the scene. And He will continue to do fine long after you are gone.] Yes, John was the greatest person born of a woman, but less than the least in the kingdom of heaven. His wrong attitude degraded him! Matt.18.1-4 AMP *1 At that time the disciples came up and asked Jesus, WHO THEN IS [REALLY] THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?2 And He called A LITTLE CHILD to Himself and put him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Truly I say to you, UNLESS YOU REPENT (CHANGE, TURN ABOUT) AND BECOME LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN [TRUSTING, LOWLY, LOVING, FORGIVING], YOU CAN NEVER ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN [AT ALL]. 4 WHOEVER WILL HUMBLE HIMSELF THEREFORE AND BECOME LIKE THIS LITTLE CHILD [TRUSTING, LOWLY, LOVING, FORGIVING] IS GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.* Marrying these 2 Scriptural passages together, we can conclude that the more humble you are, the greater you are in the kingdom of heaven, but, the less humble you are, the less you are in the kingdom of heaven! You see, ranking in the kingdom of heaven is determined by your HUMILITY in TRUSTING God, LOVING God, yourself and others and FORGIVING yourself and others! Sadly, John became the least in the kingdom of heaven because he did not humble himself and become childlike, not TRUSTING God for his situation, not LOWLY in mind, not LOVING the Lord unconditionally, not FORGIVING himself. [Very importantly, hypocrites who don't obey the least of God's commands, and teach others to do the same are the least in the kingdom of heaven; but those who do and teach others to do are great in the kingdom of heaven. See Matthew 5:19.] Jesus rebuked John the Baptist openly indirectly (though in his absence) because he was hypocritical. Notice that Matthew 11:7 KJV above reads: *AS JOHN'S DISCIPLES WERE LEAVING, JESUS BEGAN TO SPEAK TO THE CROWD ABOUT JOHN:* Jesus didn't talk privately about John's hypocrisy; rather he spilled it out to the crowd! Proverbs 27:5 KJV *OPEN REBUKE is better than secret [concealed or hidden] love.* *To be continued* *SINNER'S CONFESSION* If you want to become a child of God now, then say this confession: "I choose to repent today. Also I choose to believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose up for my justification. The scripture says, "If you confess with you mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). Therefore, I believe in Jesus with my heart and confess him as my Lord. Now, I am born- again (Amen)." *PRAYER FOR HEALING & DELIVERANCE* So put your hand on the part of your body that needs healing. Also on your chest for inner healing of your spirit or soul. You can also do it on behalf of your loved ones. Now in the mighty name of Jesus, be healed of cancer, HIV/AIDS, barrenness, insanity, lameness, blindness, deafness, dumbness, fibroid, tumour, broken bone, hypertension, epilepsy, kidney failure, liver failure, weak heart, leprosy, emotional crisis, failed marriages, failed ministries, failed businesses, academic failure, broken heart, depression, wounded conscience, and all manners of sicknesses and diseases. In the name of Jesus, I command your total deliverance from generational or family curses, spirit of death, bondages, and so on. Be healed in Jesus' name! Be healed in Jesus' name! Be healed in Jesus' name! *SAY THIS ALOUD TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT* Also Jesus said, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:8). And on the day of Pentecost “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:4). Therefore, I receive the Holy Spirit by faith right now and I begin to speak in an unknown tongue (unlearned tongue) as He gives me the utterance. I command every foul spirit [spirit of fear, spirit of unbelief, spirit of doubt, religious spirit, unforgiving spirit…] wanting to hinder me to stop in its evil operation in my life in Jesus’ name.
