The Unrequited Love of Christ
by Rik Charbonneaux
4/10/2024 / World Affairs
"He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2:2 ESV
Christ died for the sins of all mankind, yet he is either ignored or despised by 2/3 of the world population in this current age, and there is much speculation about the percentage of self-professed Christians who actually honor, love and trust our Savior.
Our Savior precious love for us an unrequited love, not responded to in kind by most of mankind, and He knew it would be this way from the onset. He even advised His true followers that the world will hate them as it hates Him.
In our age, and through the rest of the Church Age, that relationship will only get worse, yet our Lord's unrequited love of mankind stays steadfast so all may enter into that love until it is too late.
The Book of Revelations of Jesus Christ affirms that the current state of our ever darkening world is right in step with God's corrective schedule for mankind during the balance of the Church Age.
When our King, High Priest and God's greatest Prophet returns, it is within God's plan of Salvation for mankind that Jesus will then tread the wine press alone in His destruction of those who have no fear of Him, nor any love for Him.
"I have trodden the wine press alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come." Isaiah 63:3-4 KJV
We are forewarned by Christ to not dwell upon the End Times, but rather for us to focus our resources, concerns and our all energies upon the important work and support of the Great Commission.
Therefore, let us do our part of the work that He has given us* and He shall surely tread the wine press alone when that time of great destruction comes.
* Less than 5% of Christians have ever shared the Gospel with another person that resulted with that person's decision for Christ and less than 2% of Christians (through their churches) financially support the work of the Great Commission. - PEW Research Center
