You Have a Little Strength and Have Not Denied His Name
by Tonja Taylor
1/28/2024 / Christian Living
I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name....He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new name.- Revelation 3:8, 12 KJV
"Father, please put Your Super on my natural," I learned to pray, after hearing a minister state that, somewhere, some time through the years.
When it seems you can barely breathe, and you think you've messed up so badly that God could never help you; or you just feel numb and don't know what to do, remember this: He is ultra-faithful, and can do great things with the little we give Him!
When it seems we can't get victory, and that the enemy continues to bombard us from many sides, and we are just flat weary--which is the intent of the evil one, who loves to lie (that's all he can do anyway!) and tell us that God is mad at us, doesn't want to help us any more, and that things will never change--the dear Holy Spirit Who is God, Who is the Spirit of Truth will comfort us, and remind us that, when we are weak, God in us and for us and with us is strong.
He will help us lean on Him, and remember that He knows we are weak, and that He celebrates and appreciates our efforts to keep on keeping on to follow Him, to do what's right according to His pure Word, even when it seems others (including close family!) that should be on our side are against us, and mock our loyalty to God.
He helps us lean on Him, and trust and rest in Him, and know that, somehow, as only our good Father God can do, He will work all this mess out for us (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28). This is often a life-long process; learning to release all worries and fears and frustrations and disappointments and every other negative emotion to Him, which is what "castinng all your cares on Him for He cares for you" means)
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. - John 16:13, NASB95
Only the LORD knows the heart. He sees every moment of our lives at once, knows every word on our tongues before we speak it, and knows every thought we will ever have.
Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all. – Psalm 139:4, NASB95
Wow. Even with all that yuck--not that every moment of our lives is yuck, for we have many good, loving, pure thoughts too (which only come from Him!)--He still loves us, and is always working all things out for our best and His glory, as only He, the God of Heaven and earth Who is perfect Love (I John 4:8) can do!
Hallelujah! How great and awesome is our God, the LORD Jesus Christ, the King of kings and LORD of all lords, the Merciful One, the Faithful One, the Glorious One, the Gracious One, to forgive and cleanse and cover us with His Blood, so we can be totally accepted by Father God, Who is holy?
Glory, glory, glory to God! He did all the work, and all we have to do is decide to choose Him!
Hallelujah!
It doesn't get any better or easier than that!
However, when we are weak, even simple things can be hard. It can be hard to even breathe, right? (Ask me how I know!)
When all we can do is lie down and take a nap (and sometimes, you have to be deliberate about that! When we sleep, we truly do trust Him--or we'd never sleep!); sit a bit and eat (even junk food, although we can train ourselves to eat healthy even when stressed); and barely warble a whisper of worship from our mouths; as we lift a weak hand to Him in praise--He is such a loving, understanding, compassionate Father, that He accepts our trust in Him.
Once, when I was stressing years ago about finances, trying to figure out (yet again, in that now-broken, but vicious, devil-driven cycle) how to pay the bills, the LORD spoke firmly but kindly to my heart, and said, "Your cares are My concern."
Amen and amen.
It seems "noble" to "carry our own weight" and try to figure things out, but that's the world's way, but that is not God's way.
God's way is to choose peace and tell the lying devil to shut up, in Jesus' name; to look at the Word, and say only that (I'm getting victory in that. It's been a long haul, but praise God, the LORD keeps helping me repent when I speak what's not His Word, and speak what is His Word, instead! Through the years, I have seen many things turn around, and be (and continue to be, Hallelujah!) what they should be! Glory to God in the Highest!
We have to be purposeful about refusing to stress, and choosing to rest.
We are so weak! We are nothing, have nothing, know nothing, and can do nothing in ourselves!
Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong. – 2 Corinthians 12:10, NASB95
Glory to God, when we have repented of our sins and asked the LORD Jesus Christ to come into our lives and be our Savior and LORD, we are instantly changed! Our spirits are fused with His! We become One with Christ Jesus!
He comes to live in us (thus, where the world gets their perverted view of "two people in one body," although demonic forces that invade and control the lives of those not born again is very real, unfortunately!), and He is there with us, no matter if we sense His Presence or not.
As we stay close to Him, Christ Jesus is with us, to help us in every situation.
I have learned, thank the LORD, that we can ask Him to put His Grace all over every situation for us. He hears, and He does and He will! His Grace makes things easier than they would be without it, even with Him helping us to put down our flesh (negatives from our souls (mind/will/emotions)! He is so good!
Jesus is our Prince of Peace (Shalom), and He can help us be peacemakers; not always easy to do, but He can teach us to be able to stay in a place of peace in our hearts and minds, to “keep our heads”, when “all about us” are going nuts, and exhibiting anti-Christ behavior.
For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6, NASB95
Truly, we can only do right things with His Spirit in us, prompting us to desire and do things that please Him. Then, He rewards us for those good things!
The true, victorious Christian life is not doing good works to please Him, for only by us being covered by the cleansing, atoning Blood of Christ Jesus can we ever please our holy Father God, Who is Elohim, the Creator and Sustainer of all life and the universe.
He is continuously (with no interruption; constant!) working in our hearts (spirits; the core of us; the real us; the eternal part that lives forever and is one with Christ Jesus when we are born again) to teach us His ways, to draw us to talk to Him (prayer), to worship and adore and thank Him; to read and learn His Word; to repent as needed, so He can bless us all the more; to gather with other true Believers in Christ; to use our gifts and talents, skills, and strengths and other resources for His Glory, so others may know His Love; and to just rest and trust in Him to guide us, HIs precious children, and work all things out for our best and His glory.
Hallelujah!
So, take heart. Be strong, and of good courage. When things seem darkest, and like all your efforts are in vain, know that the LORD sees and loves you, and is partnering with your earnest efforts to get His will done in the earth.
A wonderful part of His will, of course, is for all of us, His true kids (and we are all adopted into the Royal Family of God, and become brothers and sisters with Christ, the moment we believe and receive Him in our hearts, and say out of our mouths that we believe in Him!), to be happy and blessed and at rest! No matter the cross we each must bear, the LORD is with us and for us, and helping us.
He loves it when we sing to Him, and when we sing praise and thanks to Him, we can more easily focus on Him and His goodness, His awesome power and strength and patience, generosity, and wisdom. We become more aware of His wonderful loving Presence with us! Hallelujah!
The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him. - Psalm 28:7, NASB95
We can acknowledge and give Him our weakness, and lean on Him, our Strength and our Song, our High Tower, our Shelter, our Victorious, Glorious Banner--and His Banner over us is Love!
He has brought me to his banquet hall, And his banner over me is love. – Song 2:4, NASB95
Love is holding us up. Love Himself is fighting for us. The LORD Jesus Christ, Who is Love, is our Life!
Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6, NASB95
You may be whispering a prayer or song to Him, and feel alone, but that's not true. God is with you and for you.
Jesus is The Man, and He's there for you!
Praise His Name, and watch Him fight for you!
