Lubricant For A Tripartite Relationship
by Olawale Ogunsola
10/04/2023 / Relationships
In the first part of this piece, it is established that everyone is involved in one relationship or the other. It is pointed out that a certain relationship is unavoidable. It is equally stated that for a normal person, a Tripartite relationship is a reality of life.
This is a relationship that involves your God, yourself, your neighbor, or other people.
A relationship can be likened to an engine that needs to function well. Therefore, it needs to be lubricated very well for optimum benefits and performance. Otherwise, friction will set in, stiffness will follow and the engine will be locked or spoilt. This will become the end of the valuable engine.
This ought not to be so.
Then what is the Lubricant needed to make the engine of a Tripartite Relationship functional well? The name of the unfailing Lubricant is *Love*.
The Master Lover, Jesus Christ, did not leave us in the dark as He describes this in the Holy Scriptures that,
the first Personality in a Tripartite Relationship, that is God, must be loved with all your soul, heart, mind, and strength. That is, you shall love the Lord your God out of and with your whole heart and out of and with all your soul (your life) and out of and with all your mind (with your faculty of thought and your moral understanding) and out of and with all your strength. This is the first and principal step to maintain a Tripartite Relationship.
This makes it mandatory for you to love your Source, that is God, with the totality of your being. That is, loving the Lord your God out of and with all you have as a human being, without any reservations. When you lay the foundation with this, you must maintain it throughout your life. The truth is that you cannot regret it because He is everything to you and has everything you need and that you will ever need.
In the same vein, you as an individual are the second person to love in a Tripartite Relationship. Do you ask "Why?". Let me give three reasons:
i. You were created in the image and likeness of God;
ii. You are the habitation of the Holy Spirit if you are a child of God;
iii. Loving yourself is a standard by which you have to measure your love for other people.
Therefore, you need to love yourself sincerely.
For the engine of a Tripartite Relationship to function very well, you need to apply the lubricant of love in dealing with others. Whatever you do to other people out of genuine love is your reasonable and acceptable service to your Creator. You can only demonstrate your love to Him through your love for others. You cannot see God physically to demonstrate your love to Him but you have His representative around you to whom you can show His love in you.
Beloved, you need these three Personalities to live a meaningful and valuable life, how loving then are you to your Creditor, yourself, and your neighbor? You can assess yourself to make necessary positive changes to love the Lord your God, yourself, and your neighbor. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
