I Already Knew That!

I would like to be able to truthfully say I’ve got it all together, but I don’t. As much as I dislike being reminded of that fact, I am still very thankful that our Father loves me enough to not give up on me.

This time He gently prompted me to realize that I have allowed my mind to drift off course a bit lately. As I began talking to Him a few days ago, I said, “Father, you know I really hate being a burden to other people…” I proceeded to explain to Him how I knew He would provide me with firewood for the coming winter since I have less than a week’s worth left from last winter, just like He has provided for all my needs. But my son-in-law and grandson are both so busy with their jobs and other obligations, and I really prefer to not impose on them, and if I were not so weak and easily worn out, I wouldn’t have to depend on them so much, etc.

Like the tender, loving Father He is, He brought to mind the fact that He provides my needs, and it is His choice how He chooses to do it. He took my hand and lovingly led me out of that sticky spot where I found myself trapped.

He began with, “Look at more of the picture. It is My will that people love each other and help one another always. You were given good health and strength to fulfill what I gave you to do for over half a century. Now you are weak, weary, and fragile – do not despise that. Accept your fragility as a blessing. This blessing gives you the time to spend with Me, uninterrupted, as you wished to have for many years.

And understand that I use your needs to teach and bless others by giving them the opportunity to help you. ‘In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’  (Acts 20:35 NASB)  You already know this.”

Yes, I already knew that, but in thinking how unpleasant it is to be a burden to others, I forgot the amazing way our God uses us to be a blessing to others. I had become caught up in how my circumstances affect me and totally neglected to consider that I am not the only person involved in my journey through this life.

 “You didn’t choose Me, but I’ve chosen and commissioned you to go into the world and bear fruit.” John 15:16 (TPT)

 

 

 

I was raised in church but always felt like I was missing something. Now the Word of God excites me! My curiosity enhances the pursuance of discernment. I have often felt discouraged, but not totally defeated knowing that in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
