Value Your Servant

by Olawale Ogunsola

In life, every individual has a role to play in the timetable of God and His program. Therefore, no one is of no value to Him. Some were born great or to be great while some were born not to be so. Yet, they have a vacuum to fill in God's scheme of things.

That is why the great should not belittle anyone they perceive as being of lesser value. Before the Creator, everyone is valuable.

You may have someone or some people who serve under you, please, take good care of them not only for God's sake but for your own sake. Do you wonder why? You are right to ask.

I think you will agree with me that an engine, for instance, a car that is well maintained will work better and serve its owner for a longer period than one not taken care of properly.

If this happens to an engine, the same applies to human beings. A happy and healthy servant is a great material in the hands of his master.

The experience of a servant in the hands of his master teaches a great lesson. He was sick and abandoned in the wilderness by his master. He left him to his fate not knowing that he, the master, will pay with his life.

One of the reasons every servant must be valued by you is that every piece of information at the disposal of a servant is vital to your survival. This information may get to him officially or otherwise; it has a great effect on you, directly or indirectly. In the words of the servant,
"30:13 ...And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me because three days ago I fell sick." 1 Samuel.

It was the little information at the servant's disposal that exposed the master to danger that put an end to his life. He knew the way his master has gone and he exposed it to the person who hunted for his life to claim it.

He secured his own life before he gave his uncaring master to his enemy. The Scriptures disclose,
"30:15 And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company." 1 Samuel.

What was the outcome of the uncaring master and his cohort, sudden destruction?
"30:16 And when he had brought him down, behold, they have spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah."
30:17 And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled. 1 Samuel

What were they doing when destruction came? They were rejoicing! The master and his friends were destroyed but the wise servant survived.

May you not be a victim of your not caring for your servants in Jesus' name. Do you say "Amen!"? Take care of your servants and you will reap from them and the Creator of all things will be happy at you. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
