Keys To Fruitfulness
by Olawale Ogunsola
8/16/2022 / Christian Living
Every house has a door or doors which form its entrance and exit. For security purposes, almost every door needs a key to open it. It is taking a great risk to fall to take proper action to secure one's property.
To access the property as at when due calls for use of a key or keys.
So it is with fruitfulness.
Fruitfulness is part and parcel of human existence. There are other words that are used instead of fruitfulness, one of such words is "results". Every serious mind takes steps with the hope of getting results.
Do you know that the Lord our God has an expectation of fruitfulness from everyone who believes in Him? That is the truth you cannot run away from. What does Christ say about this?
In John chapter 15:1-2, Jesus Christ declares: "I am the vine, and My Father is the vine dresser.
Every branch in me that does not bear fruit He takes away;and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit."
Therefore, there is a need to be fruitful to live a meaningful life of fulfilment.
It is interesting that Jesus Christ who expects His followers to be fruitful also gives them certain keys which can open the door of fruitfulness. This is contained in Luke chapter number 8:15.
Keys to fruitfulness are
I. Honest and good heart;
Out of the heart are the issues of life. Every great invention that has ever been made started as an idea in the heart of someone who made himself available to be used by the Creator for the benefits of mankind.
The writer of the book of Proverbs in chapter four and verse twenty-four advised us, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."
Do you know that as great ideas found (and still find) their ways into the hearts of men, so also evil ideas sometimes crept (and still creep in) into the hearts of men for their own destruction?
That is the reason you need to heed the counsel of the writer of Proverbs chapter four. Out of the abundance of your hear will you be able to bring forth good fruits. A good and honest heart will bring forth good fruits and bring it forth in multiples.
How is the state of your heart? Examine it with the aim of identifying and eliminating what opposes goodness and honesty from it. Then, plant, nurse and nurture things that will make you a fruitful tree that your Creator and generations will commend.
ii. Hearing the Word of God.
It is important to state here that the role of the Word of God in bringing forth fruits cannot be over emphasised. It has multipurpose benefits. The complete benefits of this is summed up in Joshua 1:8. It reads, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written there in: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
Therefore, you must hear and read the Word of God which has been settled in heaven. Familiarise yourself with what the Lord has ni in store for you so that you will attain all that He has designed you to achieve in life for His glory.
iii. Keeping it
Do you know what? A step to take next is to apply what you read in the Word of God.
This reminds me of a question posed to a great man of God, Evang R. Bonnke of blessed memory, that "As churches increase, sins multiply, why?"
He replied, "production of soap and detergents are on the increase, why do we still have many dirty people around?"
This means that it is not having a good material that means the end of the journey but proper use of the material(s) as expected.
In the same vein, it is application of the Word of God that will bring the needed fruitfulness. To achieve the right result from hearing and reading the Word of God, you must keep it.
iv. Patience.
To many people, "patience" is the hardest part of their life, including certain people's Christian life. It should not be so. Otherwise, patience ought to be part of everyone's life. It is even worse in this computer age when instant results are expected.
On the other hand, patience cannot be divorced from a man's life. Everybody must learn to live with it. It is part of the system the Creator has in His infinite wisdom put in place.
He gave mankind an instance in Himself. How? He created heaven and earth for six days before He rested and sanctified the seven day. He is a pattern, you should follow Him if you want to be fruitful.
Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Note: Every Scripture quoted is taken from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
NOTE FOR SALVATION
The Father loveth the Son, (Jesus Christ) and hath given all things into his hand.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3::35-36.
