5 Cheap Easy Household Products For Better Health
by Tonja Taylor
6/29/2022 / Health
Then to the centurion Jesus said, Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed. And the servant boy was restored to health at that very moment.--Matthew 8:13, AMPC
You can have greater sanitation (cleanliness; freedom from germs) and thus be healthier with these 5 cheap, easily-obtained household products.
I have used all of these; not every day, but as needed.
1. Hydrogen peroxide--you can swish it in your mouth; you can gargle with it. Add a little water to a little bit of hydrogen peroxide. Remember, do NOT swallow it! It helps get rid of germs, and you can wipe the countertops and appliances and fixtures with it, too. You can also pour it on your toothbrushes. Also, it has been known to whiten teeth, although dentists do not recommend it, because it is abrasive. If you did use it, you would mix a little with a bit of baking soda. Don't use that more than once a month, and brush lightly, if you do.
In addition, of course, hydrogen peroxide is good to pour on all cuts or scrapes; not on deep wounds, thought. It may burn slightly, and you may hear a "fizzing" sound.
2. Rubbing alcohol. This product is also very cheap. However, it's much stronger than hydrogen peroxide, so do NOT gargle with this, and do NOT pour it on your toothbrush.
It is good to clean counters and fixtures and appliances with. If you use it on cuts, it will usually burn quite a bit. You can use a slight bit on a cotton swab or cotton ball to clean the lenses of cameras and computers, but it's best to use something formulated for those electronics instead.
You can also use it to make your own hand sanitizer, for alcohol is usually around 70% at least of most sanitizers.
3. White vinegar. Many people cook with it, but it has no nutrution at all. Howevver, it's great to mix with water and clean glass and fixtures, even countertops and floors (when added to water and perhaps other chemicals). It stinks, but it dries clear on glass and chrome, etc., from my experience. You can also gargle with it, although I'd recommend mixing it with water if you do.
4. Apple cider vinegar is a cheap organic product that you can also cook with, and mix with honey and water to make a "mocktail" that has helped many people's digestion (including mine). You can drink apple cider vinegar (ACV) and although it may make your stomache burn (so eat a bit of food or milk with it), it will only do your body good (unless you're allergic to it or something).
You can gargle with it, pour it on your toothbrushes, and clean counters and fixtures, walls and floors with it. You can also put some in your wash to help clean and freshen your clothes.
5. Baking soda is also very cheap, and can be used to add to the laundry in the wash cycle to help clean clothes safely, and mixed with vinegar (it has a cool "fizz" when you mix the two) to clean counters and other surfaces.
