RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN IMPATIENCE & PRIDE

by linzy bruno
5/27/2022 / Bible Studies

When we abide in pride our attitude is one of superiority; we wonder, ‘Is this person stupid? Why can’t he/she understand?’ Consequently, we develop an attitude of arrogance, which leads directly to a condescending tone to our speech. This is not pleasing to God, quite clearly. It is hurtful and causes nothing but emotional pain and dysfunction in every sort of relationship: parent/child, other family connections, husband/wife, employer/employee and all friends.

In order to develop patience, we must first allow the Holy Spirit to do His Work within us; we must forgo the selfish pride that wars against every one of us, and surrender to His Will. We can learn to use our will to choose His Will. Even if it’s a long and painful process, through surrender we can come to the end of ourselves and to the point of  letting God be God in our lives…..

1Corinthians 4:6-7—

"Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other. For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?"

 Proverbs 13:10

"By pride comes nothing but strife,
But with the well-advised is wisdom."

Colossians 3:12-15

"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful."
