Remember the Right Part!
by Tonja Taylor
4/22/2022 / Christian Living
Many people are programmed to think and speak negatively, but God is a positive God--thank goodness! Here are a few tips I've learned that have helped me have a more positive and productive life--to remember the Right part!
Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.--Isaiah 42:9, AMPC
Halellujah!
2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.--Colossians 3:2, AMPC
As I heard one preacher say a few years ago, "God never speaks doubt, discouragement, nor fear." Hallelujah! He believes in us! He is for us!
Most people say, "I forgot!" instead of, "I just remembered."
Everybody I've heard of wants to play "hangman," but when I taught 4th grade math and English in a public school, the LORD gave me a better strategy: Play "Build-a-Man" (start creating a person, instead of "hanging" one!). (By the way, my concept is now in fourth grade textbooks in public schools in south Africa! Hallelujah!)
Most people grow up with a sin-consciousness; focused on what we've done wrong, insteed of what we've done right. We've spent a lot of time, effort, and energy on feeling bad about ourselves, and trying to apologize for our mistakes.
I totally believe in confession and repentance, and the LORD commands that. However, He also wants us to choose to believe that He forgives us, then to (of course) forgive others, and ourselves, and move on! He wants us to forget the bad and focus on the good--and that His plans for us are good (Jerermiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10 and Ephesians 3:20), and that--praise Him--He loves us anyway.
He wants us to remember the right part--that our faith (which He gave us, because He is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2)! in the shed blood of Jesus Christ (John 3:14-17) has made us right with God!
Therefore, since we are now justified (acquitted, made righteous, and brought into right relationship with God) by Christ’s blood, how much more [certain is it that] we shall be saved by Him from the indignation and wrath of God.--Romans 5:9, AMPC
The LORD's plan from the beginning was Heaven on earth--no stress, no strain, no anger, no loss, no evil (Genesis 1)! Hallelujah!
What He teaches us in His Word is to (at the risk of sounding redundant!) choose to be purposely positive!
And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].--Colossiand 3:15, AMPC
One of the best ways we can start to be more positive--to remember the Right part!--is to be thankful!
Keep a thanksgiving journal. At least once a quarter, and hopefully more often, get with your spouse, family, or other loved ones, look back in the journal, and remember God's goodness to you!
Ask the LORD to help you be more thankful. He will! He has taught me to start thankging Him the moment I'm awake--whether it's in the middle of the night, or in the morning. Great is His faithfulness, amen!
One powerful way to remember the Right is to worship and praise Him out loud--with your voice, with instruments, and with dance; with your creativity, for God is Elohim (Genesis 1), the Creator, Who is endlessly creative!
Another way to remember the Right is to speak righteously. Once we are born again by faith in the LORD Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit--the Spirit of Righteousness--lives within us, and convicts us when we speak wrongly. When we speak right--in accordance with His Word--then we have greater peace. (We can yield to Him and ask Him to fill our mouths with His words.)
29 Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word nor unwholesome or worthless talk [ever] come out of your mouth, but only such [speech] as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God’s own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin).--Ephesians 4:28-30, AMPC
One powerful way to remember the Right is to ask the LORD to bring to your conscious memory how He's brought you through all the junk in your life--and how there are so many excellent things in your life right now!
One of the most effective ways to help you remember the Right is to know that, if the LORD had not drawn you by His Holy Spirit and convinced you that you needed the Savior, Jesus Christ, then you would be headed for hell!
Now that you are God's child by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ shed for you on the cross, you are right with God!
Another way the LORD has helped me remember the right, is to remind me how I feel about my own daughter (and even other kids, who are not my own, and even other adults who have sinned against me greatly, but whom I've forgiven, and just want them to be blessed; to have a Heavenly life!). She's hurt me greatly, but my true love for her still supersedes all that. I want the best for her, and even when she was in blatant rebellion, I still wanted the best for her--because I love her! Hallelujah!
How much more powerful is the perfect (agape) Love of God for us (I John 4:8). God is with us always, and nothing can separate us from His Love (Romans 8:35-39)--no matter how we feel!
So, we can ask the LORD to help us remember that--no matter how we feel or what the circumstances are!--by the blood of Jesus (alone!) that covers us, we are Right with God! He is the LORD our Righteousness!
He can, as Dr. Creflo Dollar has stated, "only deal with us through Grace."
Many preachers have stated, to paraphrase, that "Mercy is not getting what we deserve (the bad), and Grace is us getting the good things we did not deserve."
Just like any loving parent wants their children to confess their wrong actions and attitudes, then start acting and and thinking right--to help themselves and others!, and get back in peace and strength and victorious living otherwise, how much more does our darling Daddy God, Who is perfect in all His ways, want us to remember that, to Him--through the blood of Christ Jesus--we are right with Him!
Righteousness is a rest, and He tells us to "labor to enter into His rest". So today, let us choose to remember the Right--God's righteousness, through the blood of Jesus Christ, Jehovah Tsidkenu--that makes us right!
For he who has once entered [God’s] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own.--Hebrews 4:10, AMPC
Hallelujah!
