A Quick Easy Way to Be Healthier
by Tonja Taylor

This is so simple that many people miss it, or disregard it: Drink more water! Sure, have your caffeine (I do), but ask the LORD to help you drink a glass of water before you have the coffee or tea!
You've probably heard several times that our bodies are comprised, or made up of, mostly water. Yes. Water is a vital ingredient for the correct functioning of our brains and other organs.
Drinking enough water can also affect our moods! If we feel better physically, that can help our attitudes!
I know; drinking water can seem boring. Our minds and flesh (mind, will, emotions) have to be taught that it is good to drink water--before we are thirsty!
A doctor said once to a minister I heard that it's all right to drink a soda or so every day if you think you have to, but be sure and drink at least twice as much water, to help your body to flush the soda out of your system. (There is really nothing beneficial for your body in soda. However, tea and coffee do have some health benefits. You still need to drink at least as much water or more than you drink in tea and coffee, or even fruit juice (which has a lot of natural sugar, and can have added white sugar. Sugar, especially the white processed kind, can rob your body of water.)
Maybe you don't like the taste of water. I totally understand. I grew up on great well water, but moved to the city as an adult, and I cannot stand to drink the water that comes out of the tap! It tastes (and sometimes has smelled!) like the water that used to be in my chlorine pool!
So, here's an easy fix: Add a flavoring (You can buy them, but they might have sugar. Avoid those who have artificial sweeteners!), and the best is apple cider vinegar (ACV), which is really cheap, as well as lemon or lime juice. The best, of course, is to buy fresh organic lemons or limes. I've been adding a dash (about a teaspoon or less) of these to my water for years, and now water anywhere tastes weird to me without it. Plus, the ACV or citrus juice helps to alkalinize one's body, which can make it less prone to inflammation or infection.
Another thing we do is filter the water (twice, actually). If you don't have an under-the-sink filter that connects to the water pipe and filters the water before it comes out, you can buy the filter that fits on the faucet, and if you wish, also pour water from that into a second counter top filter. These usually work through charcoal-based filtering to remove impurities from the water.
I don't read the water report, that reveals all (?) the junk in the water. Rather, I pray over my food and water, and command everything I put in my body to bless it. I break the power of anything harmful in the Name of Jesus, in any food or drink I put in my vessel, too.
Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,--Exodus 23:25, NIV
Water in the Word represents many things. While water represents humanity-- people--my favorite is that water represents the Spirit of Jesus Christ, our LORD. (Yes, He appeared in many forms in the Old Testament, before He was incarnated as a man and lived and taught and died on the cross for us, and rose again. HALLELUJAH!)
For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the Fountain of living waters, and they have hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns which cannot hold water.--Jeremiah 2:13, AMPC
(Truly, we can never have enough of the experience of God's Spirit within us, around us, for us! Once we receive Christ Jesus as our Savior and LORD, He is forever with us, of course! Hallelujah! It is just wonderful to sense His Presence with us. The closer we get to Him through worship, prayer, church attendance, and most of all, His Word the Bible, the more we will experience Him as the Living Water, Who cleanses, heals, refreshes, invigorates, and restores us! Hallelujah!)
Most of all, of course, we can ask our sweet, faithful, loving Daddy God to help us remember to drink more water. He is faithful, and He will do it. He loves to help us!
Another cool thing I've found about drinking water is that, when I put a Scripture by the water cooler/filter, I read it as I'm drinking. So I'm getting the Living Water and the physical water at once, and doing my spirit, soul, and body good--all at the same time!
So can you. Go for it! You will feel better, and even have more energy. You can make a game of it, and even write down the number of glasses of water (By the way, one cup is 8 ounces, not 16, like I wrongly thought for decades!) you drink and then reward yourself when you reach a certain goal!).
By drinking more water, you will feel better, and also be a good example to others, especially your kids.
Go for it. Drinking more water will soon become a great habit, and you'll be so glad you partnered with the LORD in this to become healthier!
For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; I am the Lord, Who says to you, Fear not; I will help you!--Isaiah 41:13, AMPC
