The Keys of Thanksgiving and Praise

⁴Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name! ⁵For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.--Psalm 100, AMPC

I went to our rented storage building the other day, reminding myself that I had both the electronic key to the outer gate, and the physical, smaller key that would open the lock on the overhead door.

I knew I could not get in without both of those things; they worked together to give me entrance into my storehouse of treasures.

As I held the electronic key in front of the reader, I heard two beeps, as an invisible signal passed between them, and suddenly, the huge gate started sliding open.

I drove in, then parked and used my much smaller--but just as important--physical key to open the lock. Then I lifted the door and I was in, to get what I needed and wanted from that protected place.

The LORD revealed to me that thanksgiving and praise were like these storage keys: We must be thankful to start entering His Presence in the "outer courts" and then as we praise, we draw even closer to His glorious, truly awesome Self.

When we are born again by having repented of our sins, having believed in the shed blood of Jesus on the cross, and having received Christ Jesus as our Savior and LORD (John 3:15-17), then the LORD is always with us; His Holy Spirit indwells us. Hallelujah!

All who keep His commandments [who obey His orders and follow His plan, live and continue to live, to stay and] abide in Him, and He in them. [They let Christ be a home to them and they are the home of Christ.] And by this we know and understand and have the proof that He [really] lives and makes His home in us: by the [Holy] Spirit Whom He has given us.--I John 3:24, AMPC

So, He is actually always with us when we are born again; saved! Hallelujah!

However, when we use our power keys of thanksgiving and praise, we become more aware of His loving, all-powerful, all-knowing Presence. Also, He Who is Love (I John 4:8) and Who has a soul--mind, will, and emotions (like He gave us! Matthew 12:18)--likes us being thankful and admiring (as we certainly should; God is the only Perfect One, Who is worthy of all praise and thanksgiving, honor, and glory, for all time! Rev. 5:12)

In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"--Revelation 5:12

There is always something to be thankful for; much, really!

If you don't know where to start being thankful, here is a tip: Thank the LORD that He gives you every breath. Thank Him that He always watches over you while you sleep, and sustains you--or you'd never wake up. Thank the LORD that you have good health, food to eat, eyes that see, hearing, strength, people in your life who love you, etc., and then praise Him for all these things! Very soon, you will be thinking about many more to thank and praise Him for, and you will start to feel better; maybe even much better!

Remember: Every good thing comes from God, Who loves you and wants a Heavenly life for you (Gen. 1, John 10:10, Ephesians 2:10, and beyond!).

The more you use these power keys of thanksgiving and praise, the more you will have peace and joy, because the Holy Spirit will help you focus on God and all the good. It may not happen quickly, but persist (and the LORD will help you with that, for truly, we can do nothing apart from Him anyway! He is our Life! John 10:10), and very soon, you will be in the delightful habit of thanking Him throughout the day, including as you wake in the mornings.

You will be changed from "glory to glory." Amen! People may start asking you why you are so happy; why you are smiling so much!

Try it! You can only benefit!
