How Worship Can Set You Free

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).--2 Corinithians 3:17, AMPC

In Nehemiah 2:1-3, Nehemiah, who was the cupbearer to the king--a very close and powerful position--was sad over the destruction of Jerusalem. It showed on his face; he was "hangdog," according to The Message Bible.

The cupbearer (and probably, the rest of the king's court) were supposed to be happy and pleasant in the presence of the kingsaid the king in Nehemiah. (I'm sure the kings had so much responsbility that they needed the comic relief of the jesters to entertain them, to take their minds off junk they had to deal with. It makes sense that it would encourage them for those around them to "put on a happy face," and keep negative emotions to themselves.

(That reminds me that one dear pastor, an apostle and prophet in his own right, was told by Dr. Kenneth Hagin years ago that he needed to laugh more!)

King David knew this. From his experience as a shepherd for many years before he became king, throughout his kingship, he knew the power of worship.

My head is high, God, held high; I’m looking to you, God; No hangdog skulking for me.--Psalm 25:1-2, The Message.

He knew God intimately; that our dear LORD is faithful, merciful, compassionate, and understands everything before we even speak it.

Hallelujah!

He knew the LORD does not condemn us for being "hangdog," but expects us to give our problems to Him; to worship Him by trusting Him to handle our problems, so we can be free to thank Him and rejoice

Trusting God is a form of worship. Worship is the reverence and honor of someone. When we worship God by trusting Him, it is a high form of freedom from the fear, care, and worry this world (and the devil) tries to put on us!

5 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6 In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.--Proverbs 3:5-6, AMPC

When we have respect and honor for someone, we are thankful for that person.

Thanksgiving can bring healing and freedom, and is a form of worship.

(It has been proven by certain experts that unthankfulness can cause mental problems, even sending some into insane asylums! If you need to repent of being unthankful for certain people--especially leaders--in your life, or for grumbling about your body, your circumstances (There are billions of people who would trade places with you in a heartbeat, even if they have a whole lot more money than you!), or something else, please do it now! Ask the LORD to forgive you and to help you be thankful for all His goodness to you!)

3 Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and bless His name.--Psalm 100: 3-4, Berean Study Bible

But when we worship our God, Jesus Christ Who is God that made the Heavens and the earth (Genesis 1), we are operating in the spiritual realm, and the holy angels worship with us!

The main thing we have to rejoice in the LORD and worship Him about is, that if we have received Christ Jesus as our Savior and LORD by believing what He did for us on the cross to forgive and cleanse us from all our wrongs, then we are made right with God!

Hallelujah, forever! Hallelujah!

As the last part of Hebrews 10:2 (NIV) says, "For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins."
Hallelujah!

When we know we are truly in Christ by our faith in the shed blood of Christ (John 3:14-17), then we know we are truly cleansed--forgiven. If we go against the Word of God, we have an Advocate (Heavenly Lawyer), the LORD Jesus Christ, our eternal, perfect High Priest, Who ever lives to intercede for us, as Hebrews 7:23-25 (AMPC) states:

23 [Again, the former successive line of priests] was made up of many, because they were each prevented by death from continuing [perpetually in office]; 24 But He holds His priesthood unchangeably, because He lives on forever. 25 Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them.

(It was His choice to forgive us by dying for us and rising again to provide the etenal Covenant!

We worship the LORD for so many reasons! One reason is that He ever lives to pray for us to the Father; to plead for our pardon and for our Blessing.

Hallelujah!

When we worship the LORD, we are operating in the spiritual realm and the natural realm at once. When we worship, we are experiencing the pleasure and Presence of God, for He draws near and lives in the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3)!

The main thing is, when we focus on God and how faithful and good and gracious and merciful and generous and kind and patient and all-wise and mighty and pure He is, we forget ourselves. Our thoughts become much more in alignment with His, and we can hear His voice much better. We understand more deeply His love, and His way, and His beautiful Spirit touches our core and brings healing.

Hallelujah! How good and truly awesome is our God!

The world uses "awesome" for many things, but the Bible said it first, about Yahweh; Adonai; Elohim: Jehovah; Jesus Christ!

Let them confess and praise Your great name, awesome and reverence inspiring! It is holy, and holy is He!--Psalm 99:3, AMPC

So worship the LORD as you know how to, and ask Him to show you new ways to worship Him. He will, and the more you worship, the freer you will be--for you will know more deeply that, as His child, you are totally accepted and fully loved by Him, Who is LORD of all!

For you, brethren, were [indeed] called to freedom; only [do not let your] freedom be an incentive to your flesh and an opportunity or excuse [for selfishness], but through love you should serve one another.--Galatians 5:13, AMPC
