The Word of your Power

by Jack Vorster
5/13/2021 / Christian Living

Did you know that if you said nothing all day, on any given day, you would accomplish absolutely nothing? Of course, you might be alone all day and you could be physically active without saying a word and you would certainly still accomplish something, in which case you would have done so by an intellectual process. This means that you would have used unspoken words, also known as thoughts. Your thoughts (unspoken words) are what make you decide to make a cup of tea, wash your car, write a letter or do anything that causes you to physically move. In other words, you are motivated by either unspoken words (thoughts) or spoken words by which to accomplish whatever you need to or want to accomplish.

We often hear the expression, ‘the power of the word’, being used to signify that the power of words can either be destructive or constructive for the purpose of achieving objectives, especially in political circles.

As reader you probably will have noted that the title of this article reads, “The Word of your Power” and not ‘The Power of your Word’. Once you grasp the significance of the reversal of this expression your understanding of the awesome power within you will take on a whole new meaning. The power within you is dynamite and that dynamite is contained in and released by every word you speak, hence the ‘Word of your Power’.

Imagine that the source of the power that created the entire universe is located within you and that the key used to unleash that power is also secured within you. That key is faith! Now guess what the catalyst for the employment of that faith is so that the power within you can explode out of you. It is your word – the word of your power. The word of your power makes that power work and your word uses the key of faith to unlock the door to that power.

However, without the necessary faith to engage that awesome power your words will be empty and void of accomplishment. We speak incessantly about our needs and wants (a new job, a new car, etc), totally unaware that our words take to the air in the form of powerless pieces of conversation because of the lack of faith.

Only once you know that you possess the necessary faith will you be able to take the reins of that awesome power within you and by your word speak out the desired results. Your faith will do the work just like a golf club does the work when a golfer swings at the ball. The golfer knows that only his club will bring about the desired effect. Without his club the golfer has nothing to swing with and his ball remains stationary, no matter what the golfer has to say about it. Without faith you have nothing with which to launch your power and your power remains where it is - within you, no matter how much your word comes out of your mouth.

Faith is a thing of substance that arranges the evidence of what you require and then presents it to you. Your word will have provided the blueprint for that evidence to your faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Heb 11:1)

So we see that your word loaded with faith will rein that power within you and ride it to the place where you want the evidence to be constructed and to be transported to your doorstep.

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be removed, and be cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says.” (Mark 11:23)

The above verse of Scripture makes it clear that you will have what you say if you believe what you say.

You were created in the image and after the likeness of God (Gen. 1:26) and He gave you dominion over everything on this planet. You lost that power, but it was restored to you when Jesus died on the Cross. You now have power even beyond that because of the Holy Spirit residing in you. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12)

Speaking of Jesus, Hebrews 1:3 tells us that Jesus is “upholding all things by the word of his power.” Having been created in the image and after the likeness of God, we also operate by the word of our power over material things on earth.

As a son or daughter of God you possess a dynamite package and whatever exists on this earth is accessible to you by the word of your power as affirmed in Ephesians 3:20. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.”

The wealth in this world is mostly in the hands of the wicked – the unjust. As a son or daughter of God you have been made just and as such you possess the necessary qualifications to acquire what you need by the word of your power within you. “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:  (Rom.5:1)

Being justified means that you are more than just a good man or woman. “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Prov. 13:22)

If Christ is in you then you should be living in abundance and the wealth in this world is laid up for you. You don’t need to seek abundance in heaven, but you do need and can have an abundance right here on earth, which is exactly what Jesus said. “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

The thief (Satan) has been stealing from you by blinding you to the faith already given to you.

Now that you know that you have faith, let it accompany the word of your power and haul in the abundance already in existence out there. Not convinced? When you order a cup of coffee in a restaurant you do so by speaking out your word.  Pretty soon the coffee is delivered to you. What happened? Your word went to the kitchen and brought you the substance of what you requested while the source, your word, remained with you. Now listen to this, spoken by the Word of God, Jesus Christ. “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)

When you became a Christian Jesus took up residence within you by the power of the Holy Spirit. This means that the mind of Christ is active within you. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Php 2:5). Would this be said if it weren’t possible? Well, it is fact. “But we have the mind of Christ.” (1co 2:16)

If that’s not enough, then hear this. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12)

The “works” include the use of the word of your power by faith and your word shall not return to you void “but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

Now go ahead and act on the Truth that is within you. “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

Let the words of your mouth count.
