COMPASSION, WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS MORE OF

Thought: Here’s a question we should ask ourselves. “When was the last time we showed compassion towards someone in need, no matter what that need may have been?” It reminds me of the story of the Good Samaritan. That’s compassion in action. Going the extra mile. Believers are to emulate Jesus actions. We see hundreds of instances where He showed love and mercy for those who were downtrodden, hungry, diseased, and sinners, even for the thief on the cross who made a last minute decision.
Kindness and compassion go together. Compassion is the emotional state we feel for others and kindness is when we go into action to help them. Here are ten suggestions to start you on your compassion and kindness quest and there are many of you who do these things already.
- Pay it forward
- Open the door for someone
- Be a motivator
- Show mercy and kindness to those who struggle
- Give some of your time to help others
- Say encouraging words
- Incorporate a “thank you” in your daily living
- Put your hand on someone’s shoulder just to let them know you care
- Help them with their to do list
- Make a meal for someone who’s lost a loved one or handicapped
I’m sure you can think of many ways you can be a compassionate and kind person demonstrating the love Jesus no matter what that person’s status or situation. Jesus truly was a helper in his short life on this planet. His greatest act of compassion and love was taking the punishment for you and me and the world, upon his shoulders and sacrificing himself on the cross so that we could be free from sin and damnation and have eternal life. He’s coming soon and now is the time for Salvation. If you haven’t made that decision to invite Jesus into your life, do it today. You don’t want to be left behind when the trumpet blows and we meet him face to face in the air to be with him and our loved ones forever. Maranatha
Prayer: Father God, Jesus was the role model for all of us in his interaction with other people. His motivation was love. Help me to have more for those around me and be that helper and encourager that they need. Amen
Verse: Phill. 2:1-2 “Is there any such thing as Christians cheering each other up? Do you love me enough to want to help me? (Paul speaking). Does it mean anything to you that we are brothers (sisters) in the Lord sharing the same Spirit? Are your hearts tender and sympathetic at all? Then make me truly happy by loving each other and agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, working together with one heart, mind and purpose.”
