Revolutionary Love

by Lorraine Taylor
11/04/2020 / Christian Living

The purpose of Paul's writings in the epistle to the Ephesians was to explain the call of God's people to live in light of their heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.

The apostle Paul emphasized this call inspired believers to live a radical love lifestyle (holy being vs. carnal mindset) and be in unity with other believers (other-centeredness vs. individualistic focus).

This unity resulted when living from the no lack of supplied love in Christ. In Christ, every believer has been endowed and bestowed with every spiritual blessing, having inherited the very life source of an infinite divine and heavenly God.

When we incorporate being-love into right living with others, we are adequately equipped with the spirit of God who influences each response, each choice, and each action.

In Christ, we are emboldened with a love that motivates and differentiates how we ought to treat other persons, regardless of their faith.

Each paragraph in this epistle calls us to renewed thinking that leads to lifestyles lived in redemptive relationships prioritizing the consideration of others.

This union in Christ - is our starting point each day. Our positional union in Christ is where we stand, breathe, dwell, reside, focus, and are.

Empowered being flows as we co-participate in Christ Jesus in how we respond to and with others.

Other-centered being is how we demonstrate and manifest Christ love in the community and in the church as the righteous heirs of a holy God.

This engaged resolve to live from Christ as our infinite supplier of all we need grants us a mindset that is devoted outwardly to how then we live.

Paul modeled a revolutionary way of being that challenges us today.

  • Devoted to serving together (4:1-16).
  • Integrity in relationships (4:17-32).
  • Living from a divine source (5:1-6:9).
  • Living from the armor of God (6:10-24).

"His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” 2 Peter 1:2

We lack nothing when we choose to live from the sole sufficiency of our union in Christ.

In Christ, we are fully supplied and adequately provided with the holy spirit and divine influence whose love empowers, transforms, and radicalizes relationships and communities.
