1 Thessalonians 5 16-18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
When we pray tirelessly, we pray in every circumstance of our lives. When we sing praises to Him for everything He has done for us, even in good times and in bad times, we are praying to him unceasingly because our love and respect for Him knows no bounds and He is faithful to give us the grace to survive in every battle or season of strife.
When you lift up your eyes to the one who saved you, who healed you, who gave you a way out of no way, who helped you to become a better person, father, mother, co-worker, friend, wife or husband, you know in the bottom of your heart that you could have never made it this far without Him. You are grateful for every circumstance, because you have learned so much and your faith has gotten stronger, and your love for Him is deeper than you ever thought was possible.
That is when you being to realize that prayer is not just a time in the beginning of the church service or the last item on the agenda when you leave the church service. It is not just when you come together to pray with your spouse or with a group of others. It is not just when something catastrophic happens in your life you blurt out a quick prayer for comfort and deliverance.
No, real prayer never ceases. You say wonderful things in your heart to your Lord Jesus, you sing and worship in His presence and you are laughing or crying, you are whispering sweet phrases of love into your Savior's heart. You proclaim to another your love for Him or you tell them what He as done for you. You pray for those people you see in the street whom you know needs Jesus and you say a short prayer as you walk down the street.
You may hold a person's hand and pray for them when they ask for prayer, or you ask them if you can pray for them and they agree with you for prayer in their lives and you pray with your mouth, but also with your heart.
Yes, prayer is everywhere in our hearts, in our minds, in our future, and it helps us to heal from our past. We pray continually, whether we know what we are doing or not. The Lord knows our hearts, and He sees what we need and what we desire for ourselves, and for other people.
Do not be surprised one day when someone comes up to you and asks you to pray for them, because the Holy Spirit has directed them to you. He knows that you are a praying child of God, and that your prayers are real and that they will make a change in that person's live, because you believe in Jesus, and you are willing to pray for them...
