Late-Autumn winds were blowing the brown, red, gold, and occasionally green leaves into their ordained seasonal adventures.
“Wow! This is like the roller coaster rides I’ve heard all those humans brag about!” shouted Red Leaf. “I didn’t realize riding on the wind could be so much fun!”
“For sure, this is the best!” exclaimed Green Leaf. “It’s much better than being chained to that heavy tree branch for all those months! It feels great to be free!”
“Free as a bird!” Gold Leaf opined. “Now we can go where life takes us and fulfill our ordained destinies!”
“And the wind feels so brisk and invigorating,” Brown Leaf said. “So freeing and so empowering!”
“And so chilly and cold!” Red Leaf suddenly realized.
Green Leaf also recognized a new truth. “Look at all our friends, neighbors and relatives lying there on the ground, covered with rain, being trampled by squirrels and rabbits. None of those leaves are moving. I think they must be dead.”
Gold Leaf contemplated another thought. “That must mean they have fulfilled the mission the Sovereign Creator placed them here on earth to do.
“It also suggests that those of us still flying around up here have almost reached the end of our appointed time on planet Earth. Our destinies must be nearly complete.”
Amber and Goldie, two young women were walking in the park and overheard the leaves’ conversation. “Do you hear those leaves talking to each other about life,” asked Amber.
“Yes, and it sounds as if they know what they are talking about,” Goldie replied.
“I think this might be a message to us from God,” said Amber.
“You may right about that,” said Goldie. “When I was just a little girl…maybe about seven years old…I asked Jesus to forgive my sins and come and live in my heart, but I’m not as close to Him as I need to be.”
“I need to be closer to the Lord, too,” said Amber. “Let’s kneel at this park bench, re-consecrate ourselves to God and ask Him to draw us closer to Himself and help us to live closer to Him greater than ever before.”
Amber and Goldie knelt on the wet concrete, asking the Lord to forgive any sin they may have in their lives.
Although the cold winds around them continued to howl, Amber and Goldie could only feel the warm glow of the Lord’s touch around them.
“Thank the Lord we heard these leaves talking today,” said Goldie.
“And thank the Lord we could understand the Language of the Leaves,” Amber chuckled.
