Holy Communion-The Wisdom Of God For Total Health Spirit, Soul And Body

What is Holy Communion to you? Your understanding of what it is and its benefits will determine the place you will give it in your life. It is more than small bread and drink taken in the churches. It is the wisdom of God for your total health spirit, soul and body. This article gives you a better understanding of the importance of Holy Communion to a believer.

Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him - (John 6:53-56 NKJV).

For it is the life of all flesh. Its blood sustains its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel, 'You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off' - Leviticus 17:14 (NKJV).

The Holy Communion is a spiritual mystery that, when taken with understanding and faith, causes one to live above the natural realm.

What is Holy Communion?

It is bread and drink taken as the flesh and the blood of Jesus respectively. It was instituted by Jesus Christ Himself and was also encouraged by Him to be taken in remembrance of Him (Luke 22:19, I Corinthians 11:24-25). It is the new covenant in Christ's blood, which was shed for all (Luke 22:20). It is the life of Jesus, the life of all flesh is its blood (Leviticus 17:14). It is fellowship with Christ in His flesh and blood. It is the wisdom of God through which we enjoy the life of Jesus in us. It can be taken as often as you want, the disciples were taking it daily (Acts 2:46).

The significance of the Holy Communion

You are what you eat. Eating the life of Christ confers the life of Jesus on you. As often as you eat it, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes (I Corinthians 11:26), you proclaim the finished work of Christ on the cross. As such you're identifying with His death and partaking of the blessings attached to it. Partaking of the Communion ministers to you spirit, soul and body.

Spirit

When you partake of the flesh and blood of Jesus, you abide in Him and He in you and you will have eternal life (John 6:54, 56). Your walk with God is greatly enhanced with the life of Jesus in you. There is unity of spirit with Christ, which helps you to obey and live for Him at all times. Even the agents of darkness will recognize that the life of Jesus is in your blood, marking you a touch not.

Soul

The life of Christ also ministers to your soul. The mind of Christ will sharpen your own mind as you eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus, and your understanding and reasoning are enhanced. When the two disciples that walked with Jesus Christ to the village called Emmaus partook of the bread that Jesus blessed, broke and gave them, their eyes of understanding were opened (Luke 24:30-31).

Body

The flesh of the Lord is food indeed and His blood is drink indeed. It speaks life into your flesh, nourishing and replenishing it, giving you health. It is the all purpose medicine that cleanses your system and keeps you strong and healthy. When Israelites ate Manna in the wilderness, there was no feeble person among them (Psalm 105:37). They ate food from heaven and knew no sickness or weakness. Now, a bigger food from heaven is here. Jesus is the bread of life from heaven, eating His flesh and drinking His blood surely does better than the manna. They ate the manna and all died, but the Holy Communion gives you eternal life (John 6:51).

Conclusion

The Holy Communion is more than what you think. It is God's wisdom for conferring dominion on those who believe in Christ and receive Him as their Saviour. It empowers you to live the life of Jesus here on earth. Eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Christ with understanding and in faith makes you soar high above your enemies. Holy Communion is the ideal meal for you and me! I recommend to you daily consumption of it with faith and understanding.
