Christian School Students Write Papers About How Long They Want to Live

A Christian high school featured several classes designed to get its students to position themselves to grow closer to the Lord on a daily basis.

Mr. LiveLong had been selected by his peers and members of the school administrative team to teach a special summer class called “Living a Long Life for the Lord.” The class was limited to the first 40 enrollees and by May 31, all enrollees had been accepted.

The first project for members of the class was to write a paper about how long he or she wanted to live and what he or she wanted to accomplish for God. “These papers must be turned in no later than Monday of next week,” said Mr. LiveLong.

All students in the class were determined to earn good grades. In addition to at least a partial scholarship to the local Christian university, all students were going to be taken on a combination vacation/mission trip to a Caribbean nation.

Lucy began her paper with the words, “I want to live to be 70 years old, because I want to serve the Lord by creating and owning several Christian businesses which would pay all my employees a great living wage, as well as give them opportunities to travel to other countries.”

Loren’s began his paper like this, “I want to live to be 120 years old, because that’s how old Moses was when he died, and he accomplished many great things for the Lord. I want to write 100 Christian books and use those books to tell the world about Jesus.”

Lincoln’s started his paper like this, “I want to live to be about 33 years old, because I think that’s how old Jesus was when He died. And His work was unmatched, because He died on the Cross to save all of us from our sins. I want to be an example for others to see Jesus in me and live for Him every day.”

“I want to live to be 175 years old,” Leah wrote. “That’s how old Abraham was when he died. And he was so great he was called the friend of God.”

Larry wrote, “I want to live to be one thousand years old. Methuselah lived to be 969 years old, longer than anyone else in the Bible. I want to break His record.”

“I believe all of us in this room will live much longer than 969 years,” Mr. LiveLong told the class. “The Bible promises us that if we believe in and live for Jesus, we will live with Him forever. That, dear students, is much, much longer than 969 years. It’s total abundant life with absolutely no end!”
