WHO'S IN CHARGE?
Freelance writer Lupie Riley
Thought: Addiction: "devote or give oneself." Have you ever tried to make it through one day by turning everything off...I-phones, I-pads, computers, television, video games, movies, drugs (unless it's life threatening), sports, and anything else that consumes your precious time. You will discover a whole new world and you might even spend quality time with your spouse and family members. You will also discover how much these things have overtaken your will to say NO!
Satan has a way to distract our attention away from the most important things in life. God, family, relatives and friends...people. God's Word is our foundation for all the important dicisions we make in life. How much time during the week do you spend reading it ? If you don't have it down to memory you can embrace anything that comes along as truth without the ability to discern whether it's true or false. How many hours a week do you invest in your spouse, family and friends aside from all the distractions? As a child growing up our weekends were spent as a family visiting friends and relatives enjoying each others company and having a meal together and enjoying each others presence. All the world's distractions has taken the place of this rare practice called family time.
Who's in charge? Is it what the world has to offer or getting to know our Creator Father through the reading of His word and prayer. Which one of those things will last an eternity? Let's take back control of our life and spend it on those things that really count. What kind of legacy will you leave behind for your spouse, family and friends? What will they remember most about you? We all need to ask ourselves "who's in charge?"
Prayer: Father God, examine my motives for everyday living. Have I put you first in my life? Help me to not allow the worlds distractions to take away that precious time I can spend with you. Amen
Verse: Rom. 6:16,17 v. 11 "Don't you realize that you can choose your own master? You can choose sin (with death) or else obedience (with acquittal). The one to whom you offer yourself--he will take you and be your master and you will be his slave. Thank God that though you once chose to be slaves of sin, now you have obeyed with all your heart the teaching to which God has committed you. v. 11 So look upon your old sin nature as dead and unresponsive to sin, and instead be alive to God, alert to him through Jesus Christ our Lord."
