Why Cut Yourself Off The Inheritance?
by Ngozi Nwoke
3/12/2018 / Christian Living
Do you think that some blessings in God's word are not for you or they will not apply to you now? This shouldn't be because God made provisions for all His children and everything is in abundance. The enemy is only trying to cheat you due to your lack of knowledge or inability to exercise your right in Christ Jesus. This article aims at encouraging you not to cut yourself off the inheritance of God.
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise - Galatians 3:26-29 (NKJV).
Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth - Deuteronomy 28:1 (NKJV).
There are great inheritances available for God's children on earth; however, many of them are cutting themselves off the inheritance. When God mentioned these blessings, He never mentioned the age, gender, or background of the people that they belong too or that will get most of them, but some Christians are adding these and in the process are exempting themselves from the inheritance. We are all one in Christ Jesus and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:26-29), and that includes you.
Access to the Lord's inheritance
The accesses I see in the scriptures are:
1. Being born again
This is the starting point. You have to be a child of God to access His inheritance, which is for His children. You become one by accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9-10).
2. Love for God
God has prepared great things that eyes have not seen or ears heard for those that love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9). So, for you to partake of these blessings you have to love God with all heart.
3. Obedience to God and His word
God has promised that if you observe to do all that He commands, that so many blessings will be released unto you (Deuteronomy 28:1-13). But, how will you know His instructions to obey if you don't know His words? There is need for you to constantly study His word to know your inheritances in Christ and what you need to do to access them.
4. Faith
This is an important access into the Lord's blessings for you. It's not enough to be obedient to God and know what belongs to you in Christ, it is also important that you have faith in the word of God; otherwise, it will not profit you (Hebrews 4:2). You have to believe that when you obey the Father that He will reward you (Hebrews 11:6), and that He will do all He said He would do when you do His commands.
Therefore, once you have the above accesses, it is expected that you will have access to your inheritance in Christ, despite your age, gender, background or whatever reason the enemy is using to rob you off your blessings. Every blessing is available for anyone who chooses to access it.
There are certain people who still accessed their blessings in-spite of the circumstances surrounding them. Some of them include:
Abraham and Sarah
They had Isaac naturally at ages that scientifically were impossible (Genesis 21:1-7). So, your age notwithstanding, you can reach out for what belongs to you.
Moses
He started his purpose in life at 80 years (Exodus 7:7) and fulfilled it. He brought out the children of Israel from Egypt, the land of their bondage. It's not late to start the call of God in your life
Caleb
He also at 80 years was able to go to war to possess his inheritance (Joshua 14:10-14). It's not about your age but the strength of God in you.
Deborah
Deborah was a female prophetess but she went with the men to war and God delivered the Israelites from their enemies (Judges 4). Jesus says that there is neither male nor female; we are all one in Christ.
Jephthah
He was considered to be unqualified for his father's inheritance by his brothers because he was a son of a harlot, but when his people needed deliverance from their enemies, they chose him to be their head and to deliver them, which he did by the help of God (Judges 11).
In conclusion, no excuse is strong enough to deny you of your inheritance in Christ. Cutting yourself off the inheritance is to live on earth as a slave when you are a prince or princess. Choose this day to believe God's word as it is stated in the bible and reach out for your inheritance. No devil will cheat you of what belongs to you again in Jesus name.
