Who Is Your Master ?

Dear Friends,
I am seeing a disturbing comon patern taking place in modern Christianity.
Many Christians believe their is nothing wrong with not attending church on Sunday.
Many take jobs that have them work on sunday.
It is my understanding that Sunday is the Christian's Sabbath. It is the day Christ rose from the tomb where He was buried, and appeared alive to His Disciples .
What I believe the Christian Sabbath consist of(activities)
Receiving spiritual guidance, and training from the Pastor's messages to the congregation.
Worship God with thanksgiving, praise, and bring our offerings , tithe.
To offer prayers and help to people in spiritual or physical need.
To fellowship with other christians
A day to rest from labor, and worldly affairs.
To fellowship with God on a individual personal level.
How important is keeping the Sabbath day to God?
Let look at what God says in His Word The Bible.
Exodus Chapter 20; verses 8 - 11
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Exodus chapter 31: verses 12-17
And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily ye shall keep my sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifieth you. 14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that profaneth it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Jehovah; whosoever doeth any work on the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Exodus chapter 16: verses 23 - 26
On the sixth day they gathered twice as much food, two omers for each person. When all the leaders of the community came and reported this to Moses,
23.
he told them, "That is what the LORD prescribed. Tomorrow is a day of complete rest, the sabbath, sacred to the LORD. You may either bake or boil the manna, as you please; but whatever is left put away and keep for the morrow."
24.
When they put it away for the morrow, as Moses commanded, it did not become rotten or wormy.
25.
Moses then said, "Eat it today, for today is the sabbath of the LORD. On this day you will not find any of it on the ground.
26.
On the other six days you can gather it, but on the seventh day, the sabbath, none of it will be there."
Recap on what these scripture teach about the Sabbath :
The head of the house was held accountable to make sure no one in his family,or those under his ownership, this includes slaves or animal were not to labor on the Sabbath. it was a day of rest.
God command that those who broke the Sabbath should be put to death.
God instructed Moses to have the Jews gather one portion of manna on every day,but the day before the Sabbath he told them to gather two portions, because they were not to work on the Sabbath.
Now many of you will point out that Jesus worked miracles on the Sabbath, and because He worked on the Sabbath what's wrong for me to do the same?
When Jesus work on the Sabbath He was demonstrating God's power, love, mercy toward those who had physical and spiritual needs. He was point other to God, and by His works He glorifying God, and encouraged other's to praise and give thanks to God.
A person working on the Sabbath to Make money instead of spending the Day with the Lord,is not following Jesus example.
Here is what Jesus said why He preformed miracles on the Sabbath?
Luke chapter 6: verses 6 -11
6 And it came to pass on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find how to accuse him. 8 But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. 9 And Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to destroy it? 10 And he looked round about on them all, and said unto him, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored. 11 But they were filled with [c]madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
In my opinion here is what's wrong with Christians working on The Christian Sabbath
Disobedience to keep the Sabbath day Holy( commanded multiple time in the old testament)
Disobeying God by not taking a day off to rest: mind, soul, body and focus on one's undivided time alone with God.
Disobedience by placing one faith in one's own ability to work, and to earn money ,over trusting in God's hand provision.
Forsaking the gathering or fellowship with the body of christ
What the Bible say about forsaking the gathering of the saints:
Hebrews:Chapter 10 :verses-20-25
20 by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 and having a great priest over the house of God; 22 let us draw near with a true heart in [a]fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil [b]conscience: and having our body washed with pure water, 23 let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised: 24 and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works; 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day drawing nigh.
I want to illustration how unwise and dangerous it is to forsake the gathering with the body of saint.
I came up with this spiritual illustration from watching some program about Zebras.
Do you know that God has designed Zebras with black and white stripes as a deference mechanism to protect them from their natural predators?
When Zebras stay together in a herd, they are safe from predators, Because their black and white stripes camouflage them from be identified as an individual target.
So Zebras become l visible target to predators when they stray away from the herd.
Now the stripe that made them invisible in the herd, now stand out against their natural surrounding, make them easy visible targets to the predator.
I believe this is the same thing that happens to Christians that wander away from the fellowship with the body of Christ. One of the first step of wandering into the predator's territory is stop attending Church on Sunday. Then it is usually followed by not going to Bible study. Then they stop making time to read the Bible.
Then their mind start be reclaimed by Godless world influences.
Which leads to distancing one's self from fellowship with God, which leads to disobedient living.
Then when a person's life seem like a deep pit that there is no foreseeable way of climbing out of it. Then they cry out ," God how did you let this happen to me?
My conclusion is this, God gave us six days to earn money,to take care our Household, and our affairs
God ask for one day that we focus a day on Him. So how can we expect God to bless us, and hear and answer our prayer if we will not Honor Him.
What the bible say:
John chapter 9:verse 31
31 We know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and do his will, him he heareth.
John chapter 14:20-21
20 In that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.
John Chapter 14: verse 15.
15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
Luke chapter 6 verses 46-49
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47 Every one that cometh unto me, and heareth my words, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like: 48 he is like a man building a house, who digged and went deep, and laid a foundation upon the rock: and when a flood arose, the stream brake against that house, and could not shake it: [i]because it had been well builded. 49 But he that [j]heareth, and [k]doeth not, is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream brake, and straightway it fell in; and the ruin of that house was great.
Friends I want you to know that this discussion is not presented by a well to do person.
This article was written by a person who is seeking employment, and has turned down numerous jobs opportunities because they wanted me to work Sundays.
I am trusting God will provide the right Job at the right time and I shouldn't except any thing less that what God has ordained for my next place of employment.
