Life's an Adventure

My first big adventure
Was the flight to New York,
When I dangled in a diaper
From the beak of a stork.

But now that I'm older
I know it's not true,
But I ditto'd the same line
To my own children too.

Although I was toothless
Bald and quite nude,
My parents adored me
For a brief interlude.

By a brief interlude
I mean my childhood years
Before I caused grief,
Aggravation and tears.

The next big adventure
Was a thing called "school";
Where I exchanged my geekiness
For something called cool.

What might be called "cool"
Might mean "fool" to another
And I believe the latter
Was the thoughts of my mother.

When the learnin' was over
I tried out my wings,
And flew far from home
To search out new things.

My adventures led me
From the Ritz to the slums;
Rubbing elbows with the elite
Down to begging for crumbs.

So the word "Adventure"
I avoid like the plague
But should it be mentioned
I just look dull and vague.

Well, that's my Life Story
Kind of a thumbnail sketch
Of why I'm now known
As a worthless wretch.

But I'm not really worthless
Just a little insane...
To think MY Adventures
Can out rival Mark Twain!
