Divine Side

Deuteronomy 29:29 says, "The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law."

John wrote: "...God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things" (1 John 3:20).

That means God knows all things but he will not tell all things; he sees all things but he will not show us all things.

He will only reveal to us the things he wants us to know.

You see, sometimes God will not tell us why somebody is not healed; but some other times, he will tell us.

Psalm115:3 reads, "But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased."

Psalms 135:6 (NIV), "The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the sea and all their depths."

None of us can question God, His Word or His Spirit.

Dr Luke wrote, "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him (Jesus), saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power" (Acts 1:6-7).

Speaking about the rapture of the saints, Jesus said, "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father" (Matthew 24:36, NIV).

Matthew 13:11 reads, "He (Jesus) answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given." [See John 3:27.]

Some things will not be given to us to know until we get to heaven or unless we find grace in his sight and he opens our heart to know.

Morris Cerullo, the great general of God, was away from the US preparing for "Mission to London" when he received a phone call that his son had died.

He boarded the plane back to America and wept on the trip.

When he arrived, he and his wife also wept together.
Then he headed for his prayer room and challenged God that he had dedicated himself to Him from childhood and everything he had belonged to Him and asked Him, "Where were you when the devil came in and killed my son?"

And the Lord replied in clear terms, "If you know what I know, you will not question me. If you see what I see, you will praise me."

So he buried his son and went back into preaching.

Kenneth Hagin shared in his mini book: "Don't Blame God" how people had asked him the reason why some of his relatives did not get healed.

And he, like David, inquired of the Lord, but He replied, "That is a secret between them and me. It's none of your business. You keep preaching healing and leave that question alone. Don't even touch it in your thought life."

After his sister had died of cancer at age 55, while he was meditating on his bed, he was caught up to heaven where he saw Jesus and his sister talking.

Then her sister told him not to feel bad that she couldn't receive her healing through his prayer of faith for there was a reason for that.

But it was not revealed to him - it was a secret. [Please read Judges 13:17-18; Revelation 2:17.]

Thank God we don't always need to know why a particular person is not healed, but if we need to know, then the Lord will reveal to us at the proper time.

At times, we just need to teach generally from the Bible the reasons why some people fail to receive their divine healing as I have done in the next chapter.

No wonder Paul wrote, "For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away...
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known" (1 Corinthians 13:9-10, 12).

You see, as long as we are on earth we will only know in part. But when we go to be with the Lord, we shall know at a much deeper level!

I believe sometimes you may know the immediate or secondary reason why a person is not healed whereas you may not know the remote or primary reason for it!

Do you know why God shut the wombs of Sarai (for about 25 years), of Hannah (for at least 5 or more years), of Rebecca (for about 20 years), of Elizabeth (for probably about 25 years), and so on?

By a careful study of Scripture, one may say that the immediate reason why God shut those wombs was that he was waiting for an appointed time to bring forth a generation through each of those women.

But also there could be a remote reason which is known only to God.

In 2005, my dearest mum fell sick. We prayed and prayed and prayed and prayed.

A respected prophet came round, prayed and gave a message that she would not die but survive it.

Sadly, I think my sweet mum died in the evening of the same day without saying bye-bye to me.

I seem to know the immediate reason for
her death, but I don't know the remote reason for it.

Chapter Two

Human Side

On the human side, there are different reasons, as revealed in God's word and proven by experiences of different people, why some are not healed.

In the Healing School, I prefer to teach people first "Why Some Are Not Healed" or "Hindrances to Healing" before I teach them "How to Receive Your Divine Healing."

Such an approach will always make a big difference because people will receive their healing much more easily.

So I want to share with you 30 reasons why some people are not, were not or will never be healed!

Most of the teachings here was what I taught by the help of God at our 2015 Healing School.

Now, the reasons why some are not healed include:

1. Unbelief

Mark 6:5 -6 reveals about Jesus, And he could there do mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folks, and healed them.

And he marveled because of their UNBELIEF.

We see here that Jesus could not heal many people in his hometown, except a few ones because of their unbelief.

Unbelief here means "lack of being persuaded."
Or you may put it as unpersuadedness.

Many of those folks were not persuaded or convinced that God could heal them as Jesus was preaching.

2. Doubt

James 1:6 8 (NIV) warns: But when you ask, you must believe and not DOUBT, because the one who DOUBTS is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double minded and unstable in all they do.

If you are doubting God about receiving your healing, then just forget that healing.

This above scripture says a doubter should not expect to receive anything including healing from the Lord.

While unbelief says, "God cannot do it," doubt says, "God can do it, but can he really do it?"

Doubt means double mindedness.

3. Fear

Isaiah 54:14 reveals: thou shalt be far from oppression (sickness, disease, demonization, and so on) for thou shalt not FEAR.

1 John 4 :18 says, " because FEAR hath torment.

The first scripture in Isaiah reveals that you will be far from Satans oppression because you will not give place to fear in your heart.

Then the second one says fear has torment. Yes, fear can torment with sickness, diseases, poverty, demonization, accident, spiritual attack, and so on.

Kenneth Hagin shared the story of a man who was healed after he had cast out of him the spirit of epilepsy. A year later, he lost the healing. And the Holy Spirit revealed to Hagin supernaturally that, the reason why the epileptic seizures had come back was that the guy went to bed fearful.

So he cast the epileptic spirit out of him again and taught him how to resist fear and retain his healing.

4. Hope

Hope is in the future, but faith is in the now! After Lazarus had died, Jesus told Martha, his sister, Thy brother shall rise again.

Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:23 25).

Faith says, "By his stripes, I was healed," whereas hope says, "By his grace, I will get healed one of these days."

5. Mental Assent

James 2:19 reads, Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Yes, demons believe there is one God. But the saints believe in one God! Its one thing to believe there is God, but its another thing to believe in God.

Mental assent believes there is healing, but does not believe God for it it does not have faith for healing! It only agrees that healing exists.

6. Wrong Confession

There are 2 forms of wrong confession, namely:
i. negative confession This is a confession that contradicts Gods Word. It has no good part at all.

ii. double confession This is a combination of both positive and negative confessions.

Double confession is more tricky than negative confession because one moment one is confessing faith in God, but the next moment one is confessing unbelief, doubt, fear or worry.

It's a mixture of good and bad confessions.

Solomon wrote, Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof (Pro. 6:2, Pro. 18:21).

Years ago, when I was younger believer, I was coming back very early one morning from a vigil when suddenly I saw a small calabash or so by the road side containing some sacrifice to a god or whatever.

Without wasting time, I kicked it in holy anger. I never knew it would bring an attack on my health which I probably was unprepared-for.

Strange to relate, before long, I became sick and weak. I became worse and worse. I was stooling and vomiting perhaps at the same time. I tried to fight it off with my young faith but I didn't receive my healing. My mother and one or two other people were concerned.

Out of curiosity mixed with desperation, I grab a copy of 'Where There Is No Doctor' a health care hand book by David Werner. So I began to search to find out which of the disease there was afflicting me.

Unfortunately, when I got to page 172, I read about hepatitis a liver disease; and devil convinced me that I had that disease.

I admitted it foolishly because the signs of it resembled the symptoms I was struggling with. Unconsciously, I began to confess, "I have hepatitis."

On the other hand, I would confess, "By his stripes, I was healed". I never knew I was having a double confession.

Then one night, I seemed to sense death approaching. Fear must have gripped me. I thought to myself, "So, I will end my life so early that I won't fulfil the destiny God has for me. I'm not prepared to die this young. I've been looking forward to a great future in God but..."

While suffering on my bed of sickness that night, God impressed Proverbs 18:21 upon my heart. It reads: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

Then he made me understand that I was confessing death by saying, "I have hepatitis, but was confessing life by saying, "By his stripes, I was healed." Then I realized that I had a double confession. That nullified my faith.

You see, the Bible says, "Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth" (Proverbs 6:2).

Another Scripture says, " But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them" (Proverbs 12:6).

Without delay, I confessed, "I don't have hepatitis. By his stripes I was healed." I later slept off. I woke up perfectly healed. It was as if I wasn't the same person struggling to receive healing a few hours earlier. Glory to God!

7. Disobedience

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones (Pro. 3:7 8, NIV).

Sin of commission (1John 5:17) or sin of omission (James 4:17) can hinder your healing. Are you fully obeying God in your life and assignment?

Also sin can inward or outward; deliberate or accidental; secret or open; known or unknown; pardonable or unpardonable.

Of all these, only unpardonable sin can never be forgiven. And this applies to neither unbelievers nor baby Christians, but to only mature Christians (see Heb 6:4-6).

We don't need to play with any form of sin for any reason.

Moses warned, However, if you do not obey the LORD your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you: The LORD will afflict you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, festering sores and the itch, from which you cannot be cured. The LORD will afflict you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind (Deut. 28:27 28, NIV).

A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones (Pro. 14:30, NIV).

Your healing can be hindered by envy, unforgiveness, hatred, gossip, pride, lust, anger, adultery, fornication, stealing, abortion, non-payment of tithes/ offerings/vows, greed, lies, wrong ministry, wrong place of assignment, wrong order of ministry, delay in assignment, cheating, fraud, and so on.

A healing minister shared the story of a man who had stomach ulcer because of his disobedient lifestyle.

The Holy Spirit revealed that he was not a tithe payer. He repented and got healed. So he became a tither (see Malachi 3:8 12).

He also shared the story of his grandma who was deaf in her right ear for 40 years.

God healed her but she later lost her healing because she refused to keep her promise or pledge to the Lord that she would go to a church close by and would read the Bible more and pray more (see Eccl. 5:1 7).

A trucebreaker in Rom. 1:31 indicates someone who violates a vow (pledge or solemn promise), covenant (agreement) or truce.

Lester Sumrall at 17 lay on his sickbed dying of tuberculosis. On that fateful day, the doctor said he had 2 more hours to live for. He went to his office and wrote his death certificate but did not fill in the exact time of death.

That same night, Lester saw a vision of a coffin. As he turned his head in fear, he saw another vision vision of a very big Bible spanning from the ceiling to the floor.

Then the voice of God said to him, Tonight, you will choose that coffin or that book. I want you to preach My Word or tonight you will die.

Right there, he surrendered to the call of God and got born-again. Then he fell asleep and woke up perfectly healed!

After his breakfast that morning, he told his mum, Mama, you dont need that doctor no more. Im healed, and Im going to be a preacher.

That was in 1930. After a fulfilled life and ministry, he died in 1996. Like Paul, he was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision (Acts 26:19).

What if Paul had not been obedient to that vision on the way to Damascus?
Maybe, his blind eyes would not have opened again (Acts 9:8 12, 17 18).

8. Unwillingness

Jesus asked the man who had had infirmity for 38 years, Do you want to get well?

He was simply asking, Are you willing to be healed (because I cannot force it on you)?

Imagine a young lame man working with a big company receiving special allowance because of his disability.

Now if he gets healed, he may lose the company car, monthly allowance, welfare bonuses, and so on.

So most likely he may not want to get healed!

Some beggars with disability might prefer you giving them money to ministering healing to them.

The reason is: if they get healed, will they get another lucrative job as professional begging.

In a place like Lagos, begging is big flourishing business for those whose mindset is poor!

9. Little or No knowledge of GOD'S WORD/WILL on Healing

The Scripture says, Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge(Isaiah 5:13).

I am very convinced that if we can teach people enough of God's word and they know healing is God's will for them, we will get more people healed of various sicknesses and diseases.

Luke 5:15 reads, "But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities."

Similarly, Luke 6:17 reads: "And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases."

Do you notice
"to hear, and to be healed" and
"to hear him, and to be healed" in the two scriptures above?

That's what I emphasize in the Healing School. Some people want to receive their healing when they have not yet known enough truth to set them free.

Also imagine me praying for somebody's healing when that same person does not even know whether or not, healing is God's will for him or all.

A jobless sick guy came to a popular big occult church for help.

So a man who worked as a night guard in a nearby company met him and told me about his case.

I saw it as an opportunity to prove the power of God's word.

So I took his phone number and called him. I gave him an appointment. He agreed to pass through the Healing School. He had not finished the Healing School when he came out publicly to testify that he had been to different hospitals but God had finally touched him.

I was surprised myself. Then shortly thereafter, God gave him a job, too!

10. Refusing to develop ones faith due to prolonged spiritual babyhood

but the just shall live by his faith(Habakkuk 2:4).

I've shared the true story of the woman who had cancer and his prophet brother prayed about it and the Lord said she would not die. So God healed her!

Five years later, she had cancer again, but in a different part of her body, not related to the previous one.

Therefore, his brother inquired of the Lord again, but, sadly, the Lord said she would die and not be healed!

Why? The Lord said he had allowed others to carry her on their faith for years. But he wouldn't allow it anymore.

She had refused to develop her personal faith in God!

So she died. The just shall live by his own faith, not his pastor's faith, prophet's faith or parents' faith.

11. Discouragement due to cases of people who failed to receive their healing

Moses wrote, The secret things belong to the lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law(Deut. 29:29, NIV).

Sometimes, when God's word is preached, some people refuse to get saved, healed or delivered while some others are saved, healed or delivered!
We dont always know why some are not saved, healed or delivered as already explained in chapter one, but that will never stop us from preaching Jesus, the Saviour, the Healer and the Deliverer!

There may be a hidden reason why they are not healed.

If you are discouraged because somebody did not get healed, delivered or saved; how about those who got healed, delivered or saved?

12. Giving up when healing is not instantaneous

Jesus said, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name ... They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover" (Mark 16:17-18).

It's interesting to note that the word "recover" means "to get well gradually or little by little."

So not all healings are instantaneous. Some are gradual while others are instantaneous.

A woman minister who attended our Healing School is also a student in the NAM Bible School. After one of our Bible School lectures, she came to me to showel me an inflammation in her elbow.

Then I told her to get inside one of the classrooms and confess some healing scriptures (1Peter 2:24 and Matthew 8:17) for 2 hours.

Her son was waiting for her in another room. She finished the exercise and left. I didn't pray for her. The swelling was still there.

Three days later, she came back and testified that it had disappeared. It didn't happen instantly. It was gradual!

13. Looking at the sickness instead of acting in faith

The Lord said to Moses, Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.
So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by snake and looked at the bronze, he lived(Num. 21:8-9, NIV).

The Scripture says that Abraham considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb.. And being fully persuaded that what he had promised, he was able also to perform (Rom 4:19, 21).

The truth is: as long as you consider the sickness or your affected body or mind, healing will be hindered.

But if you look unto Jesus and his word not considering your own body like Abraham, healing will come.

14. Worry/Anxiety

A heart at peace gives life to the body.. (Pro 14:30, NIV).

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression.." (Pro 12:25, NKJV).

The first Scripture above implies that a heart that is worried or anxious gives sickness or disease to the body because it takes a peaceful heart to have a healthy body while the second scripture indicates that a worried mind causes emotional disorder and mental disturbance, which eventually result in bodily sickness or disease.

Anxiety or worry is a sign of lack of faith or trust in God; and it hinders prayer for without faith it's impossible to please God (Phil 4:6, Heb 11:6).

15. Divine Judgment

Paul wrote, Deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus (1 Cor 5:5, NKJV).

If someone is living in sin or disobedience, God may allow sickness or disease to strike them as a form of warning or judgment.

Sickness or Disease as Warning

In this case, it may come as a caution to help one adjust or correct one's lifestyle or character before it's too late so as to avert untimely or premature death.

An example was Miriam who was leprous for 7 days. That was a warning (see Numbers 12:1-15).

Sickness or Disease as Judgment

When King Uzziah lifted up himself against God by standing in a ministry or calling God has not given him, God judged him with leprosy for his pride.

The Scripture says, King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died (2 Chr. 26:21, NIV). [Please read 2 Chr. 26:16 21 for details.]

Several years ago, one of the generals of God in America died prematurely.

But God had told a prophet there earlier that judgement was coming upon that minister for 3 reasons, namely:
1. Love of food
2. Love of money
3. Lack of love for
the brethren.

So the Lord turned him over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh.

That same prophet went to pray for a dying man on his sickbed. He tried to pray for his healing but couldnt.

Rather, the Lord told him to lay hands on him to be filled with the Holy
Spirit and make his home-going more glorious!

The Lord explained that since the man had refused to repent of his sins for 35 years, he had been turned over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh.

The Lord revealed that this man had never lived a godly life for more than 2 weeks at a stretch for the past 35 years he had been a child of God.

Paul wrote, But if we judged ourselves, we would not come under judgement. When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world (1 Cor. 11:31 32, NIV).

So the man died.

16. Not Discerning the Lords Body

Writing about the Lords Supper, Paul noted: Wherefore, whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himelf, not discerning the Lords body.
For this cause many are weak and SICKLY among you, and many sleep (1 Cor. 11:27 30).

The bread and wine used for Holy Communion is holy.

So anyone living an unholy life who eats and drinks it may become sick, weak or dead.

Repentance may bring healing, strength or restoration to life.

Even the leftovers should not be treated as common food and given to children or visitors who can't discern the Lord's body or else you will be inviting evil into their lives.

17. Refusing To Cast Out The Foul Spirit Causing The Sickness Or Disease

When the dumb and deaf boy who had convulsion was brought to Jesus, the scripture says, When Jesus saw that the people were running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. (Mark 9:25)
And the boy was healed (see Matthew 17:18).

Benny Hinn shared in his wonderful book: The Anointing how surprised he was when he first heard Reinhard Bonnke cry out, You devil of blindness, I command you in Jesus name to come out.
And blind people were healed!

So Benny who was new to this and who couldnt remember having any blind person healed through his ministry decided to command blind spirits to come out of people in his meetings, and he got more blind people healed than he could have imagined possible!

18. In some cases, refusing to combine divine healing with natural or scientific healing or vice versa according to ones level of faith

There are 2 dangerous extremes that can hinder peoples healing in this regard, namely:

i. Embracing Natural or Scientific Healing Without Giving Any Place To Divine Healing

The Scripture says, "In the thirty-ninth year of hia reign Asa was afflicted with a disease in his feet. Though, his disease was severe, even in his illness, he did not seek help from the LORD, but only from the physicians. Then in the forty-first year of his reign, Asa died (2 Chron. 16:12 13, NIV).

How many good people have died on their sickbeds because they did not seek help from God to fight their sickness or diseases? Such people put their confidence in physicians, pharmacists or surgeons.

The Bible warns, 'This is what the Lord says: Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD, he will not see prosperity when it comes
'But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him It does not fear when heat comes (Jer. 17:5 8, NIV).

It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man (Ps 118:8).

It is worse and more deadly to seek help from Satan (through witch doctors, Islamic alfas, Ogbonis, sorcerers, and so on.) [See 2 Kings 1:2 4, 15 17].

ii. Embracing Divine Healing Without Giving Any Place To Natural or Scientific Healing.

The scripture says, In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death (2 Kings 20:1).

But when the king received the message that he would die, he prayed, wept and probably repented.

Then God sent the word to him, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD (2 Kings 20:5).

And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

And Hezekaih said unto Isaiah, what shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? (2 Kings 20:7 8).

You see, using the lump of figs was a form of natural healing for him. It helped to heal the boils but not the major sickness in this case.

Sometimes, God uses natural, scientific or divine healing to completely defeat major or minor diseases or sicknesses.

So God can use natural healing (through plants, animals or natural resources) as well as scientific healing (through western medicine or surgery) for us.

Gods perfect will is for us to enjoy divine health: and if we ever need healing, to get it through personal faith in Gods Word!

Prominent Prophet Bill Hamon, who had been healed in the past through faith in the Word of God, couldnt get his healing through faith in the Word at a particular time.

Concerned, he sought Gods face for help. The Lord assured him to go for a surgery, which eventually was successful. But this prophet explained that the disease struck his body because he had neglected to write a book which the Lord had instructed him to write over and over again.

So his disobedience hindered his simple faith in the Word from working for him.

Thank God for scientific healing with prayer that God used to rescue him until he could get himself back to obedience to God!

Oretha Hagin, wife of healing minister Kenneth E. Hagin, was attacked by hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) in 1963. The family doctor told her to visit a specialist but she was reluctant.

Surprisingly, her husband who was away in another town received an instruction from the Lord to call her and tell her to go the specialist.

So Kenneth told the Lord he would call her in the night, but the Lord told him to call her immediately.

So he obeyed and she went to the specialist immediately.

If she had delayed going there, she probably wouldnt have made it. She was tested, placed on medication, special foods and rest.

This condition continued but God used medical science and prayer to keep her alive until she could really connect her faith to God and obtained her healing by her own faith in Gods Word. Then she stopped taking her medicine. (Read her full story in her book: The Price is Not Greater Than Gods Grace pages 81 87).

Why was it that God gave Oral Roberts the assignment to merge or combine prayer with medicine? God is not against medicine and surgery.

But that is not God's best for us. It's just his permissive will.

Afterall, the Bible says, "...But the just shall live by his faith" (Habak 2:4). It did not say, "... But the just shall live by medicine and surgery."

19. Lack of new birth experience

I believe with T.L. Osborn that there is no use receiving healing from God, without becoming his child, so that he can give you more strength to serve the devil.

If you can become a child of God, then divine healing and health become your rights (see Matthew 15:22-28).

For seventeen long years, I suffered from nocturnal enuresis (night bed-wetting). I remember my father taking me to a medical doctor to help but it made little or no difference. I took some natural herbs but all to no avail.

All through both my primary and secondary school days, I suffered shame because of it. Being a boarding student, I became a laughing stock in my hostel among fellow students.

On August the tenth, 1993, roughly a month after I finished from that boarding secondary school, I became a child of God - I became born-again.

Immediately, I my life took on a new meaning. Without praying about it, I just noticed that nocturnal enuresis was gone forever from my life! Yeah, divine healing and health are my rights in Christ Jesus! Healing is for babes while health is for grown-ups!

If you want to become a child of God now, then say this confession:
"I choose to repent today. Also I choose to believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose up for my justification. The scripture says, "If you confess with you mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). Therefore, I believe in Jesus with my heart and confess him as my Lord. Now, I am born- again (Amen)."

20. Poor or Zero Preparation of the Minister

The 12 disciples couldnt get the boy with convulsion healed. Then they came to Jesus in private to ask why they couldnt get him healed.

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Howbeit, this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:20 21).

So the boy was not healed for two reasons, namely:
i. unbelief or lack of
faith of the
ministers

ii. lack of prayer
and fasting.

When I was a much younger Christian, a dear brother friend of mine told me of a boy in their compound who was tormented by an 'Ogbanje' spirit.

His plan was to tell our pastor to come over and pray for his deliverance.

But I told him not to bother the pastor that he and I would handle it.

So we prayed and fasted for one day and went there to yank that devil out of the little boy.

21. PRIDE

The Scripture says:
"Now Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honourable, because by him the LORD had given deliverance unto Syria: he was also a mighty man in valour, but he was a leper...
So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. (2 Kings 5:1, 9-14).

Pride may be caused by age, race, achievement, beauty, position, title, knowledge, anointing, money, wisdom, material possessions, gender, marital status, clothes, and so on.

22. WRONG EXPECTATION

The Bible reads:
"But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean (2 Kings 5:11-14).

When you expect God to use a particular method to heal you but he chooses to employ another method contrary to your expectation, you may get offended and hence hinder your healing.

This may be a sign of pride as it was in Namaan's case.

23. UNFORGIVENESS

The Scripture says: "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses" (Mark 11:22-26).

Jesus showed us the strong link between prayer, faith and forgiveness above.

Also he said about the servant who refused to forgive his fellow servant, "Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses (Matthew 18:32-35).

You see, unforgiveness will cause you to live in torments in your spirit, soul and body on earth, and in the torments of the lake of fire in eternity!

An outstanding healing minister admitted after over 50 years of ministry that unforgiveness is the major reason why people fail to get healed because he had spoken personally to thousands of people whose faith (maybe for healing, and so on) was paralyzed by unforgiveness.

Faith works by love; and love forgives and forgets (Gal 5:6, 1Cor 13:5, NIV).

So faith is hindered by lack of love!

This minister gave the instance of a woman who had respiratory and stomach problems. She had been to nearly all the frontline healing ministers in America as of then, but failed to receive her healing.

She intended to listen to this minister teachings at different sessions for days during the meeting and then get in the healing line at the end of the week.
So after attending this minister's meetings for a while, she realized she had to deal with unforgiveness before she could be healed.

Sometimes, you may need to forgive someone or yourself whereas at other times, you may need to ask someone to forgive you.

So she called her brother after 25 years of misunderstanding and asked him to forgive her. He had wanted to call her and ask her to forgive him, too. In brief, they settled their grievances.

Immediately, she had peace in her heart.

Then she decided to have a short rest before the evening healing service, but surprisingly, she woke up completely healed without prayers.

24. LAZINESS

Hebrews 6:12 (NIV) reads, "We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised."

Some folks are too lazy to prepare themselves to receive their healing.

Sometimes, faith and healing is hardwork! And that's why the Bible says we should not be lazy.

25. LACK OF THE RIGHT HUMAN CONNECTOR(S)

When Jesus asked the impotent man at the Pool of Bethsaida whether he was willing to be healed, he "answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me (John 5:7).

Jesus said, "But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian (Luke 4:25-27).

A preacher is not sent to everybody.

The Bible reveals: "And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee...
And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God (Luke 5:17-20, 25).

Gehazi was a wrong human connector in raising the widow's dead son.

The Scripture: "Then he (Elisha) said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child. And the mother of the child said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And he arose, and followed her. And Gehazi passed on before them, and laid the staff upon the face of the child; but there was neither voice, nor hearing. Wherefore he went again to meet him, and told him, saying, The child is not awaked" (2 Kings 4:29-31).

You need the right person to connect your faith to God's power.

26. SLOWNESS

"The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me (John 5:7).

27. DEFILEMENT UNDEALT WITH

Defilement could be by:
i. food and drink - Dan 1:8, 1 Cor 5:6-7,11; 1 Cor 10:19-22 (NIV)

ii. association - Pro 13:20

iii. bitterness - Heb 12:15

iv. laying on of hands or anointing with oil (either by ministering to someone or by someone ministering to you - 1 Tim 5:22

v. wrong prophecy, vision, dream or revelation - Jer 23:16, 32; Zech 10:2, Lev 19:31

vi. wrong teaching or preaching

vii. false/counterfeit signs, wonders and miracles - Lev 19:31.

The Bible says, "And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said unto them, Go, enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.

But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron?...

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.

So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his stead in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son (2 Kings 1:2-3, 16-17).

God had warned the Israelites earlier: "Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God (Leviticus 19:31).

Jeremiah prophesied: "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD (Jeremiah 23:16).

The Hebrew word for "vain" in this verse above is "habal" which means "worthless, unfruitful, useless, barren."

That means the wrong prophecies made the Israelites worthless, unfruitful, useless, barren in their spirit, soul and body.

They rendered them worthless, unfruitful, useless, barren in their finances, businesses, occupations, and so on.

Two different prophets who ministered to me in different places and at different times defiled me, but I broke its power was set free in each case.

One affected my emotional or mental well-being while the other affected another aspect of my life.

Prophet Kim Clement shared a powerful experience in his marvelous book "Secrets of the Prophetic."

He could not get healed of a terrible back problem. So while praying about it late one night, the Lord told him he had been defiled by divination through the power of words.

He lay on his back and could not walk, though, he had visited the hospital twice for surgical operation.

He became defiled at a convention when a group of self-acclaimed prophets prophesied some nice stuffs over him.

The Lord clearly told him: "Those people did not hear or see anything from Me. That was not My word. Therefore, you were DEFILED."

Kim said he should have rejected those messages immediately.

But thank God he broke the power of the defilement and he received his healing as well as total liberty in their home!

Similarly, he spoke about a married couple who complained to him of experiencing great challenges in their health and home.

They had fasted and prayed but it continued.
God prophetically revealed to them that it was caused by a word spoken over them about 2 years earlier.
And truly, ever since then everything in their lives began to fall apart.

So Kim broke the power of that wrong word over them and they experienced a miraculous deliverance.

You see, positive and negative words are powerful. Also genuine and counterfeit words are powerful.

That was why Solomon wrote, "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:20-23).

That means the right words will bring life and health to you, but wrong words will bring death and sickness.

Friend, death and life, failure and success, sickness and health as well as defeat and victory are still in the power of the tongue (Prov 18:21).

28. DIET PROBLEM

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased" (Daniel 12:4).

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children" (Hosea 4:6).

"But watch thou in all things..." (2 Timothy 4:5).

Three forms of wrong diet are:
i. impure diet - contaminated, dirty or expired food or drink.

ii. unbalanced diet - all the 6 classes of food in the right quantity. Not too much oil, fat, water, salt, sugar, beans, rice, vegetable, and so on.

iii. improper diet - it's improper to take too cold food or drink in extremely cold weather, to give baby food to adults consistently, to eat half-cooked meat, rice, and so on.

Why do you think Paul wrote Timo not to only take water but to add little nonalcoholic wine if diet does not affect healing and health (1Tim 5:23)?

Too much salt for hypertensive people or too much sugar for diabetic folks can affect the healing (especially gradual healing) of such people unless they avoid or reduce salt or sugar intake.

Generally, we should all avoid too much of salt, sugar, oil, soft drinks, honey, and so on because too much of anything is not good (see Pro 25:27).

One of my relation was hospitalized months ago. She had issue with breathing and anxiety, which was triggered partly by an energy drink or so she took.

29. MEDICATION PROBLEM

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge ..."(Hosea 4:6).

This medication problem includes:
i. wrong medication
ii. wrong dosage
iii. wrong quality
iv. wrong direction (of use)
v. poor knowledge of the side effects and withdrawal symptoms of some drugs
vi. refusing to take medication when necessary.

We also discovered that about two of the medicines my relation was taking in the hospital were making her condition worse and hence, hindering her health recovery.

So she had to stop some of them with the help of the doctor.

30. LACK OF PATIENCE/ENDURANCE

Hebrews 6:12, 15 reveals, "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises...
"And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise."

Hebrews 10:36 says: "For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise."

Patience is not folding your arms doing nothing while waiting.

Rather, it's waiting and fighting - it's stretching your stubborn faith while waiting - it's persevering or persisting in your faith while waiting for the miracle or healing to manifest - it's not giving up your conviction and corresponding action until the sickness gives in - it's enduring the pains while you stick tenaciously to the enduring word of God to see you through by thinking, believing, confessing and acting right.

So patience is needed to stand and keep standing until you win when:

i. God is testing your faith
James wrote, "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying (testing) of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing" (James 1:2-4).

Similarly, Peter exhorted: "Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
That the trial (test) of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried (tested) with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:" (1 Peter 1:6-7).

Smith Wigglesworth inspires me greatly when it comes to the test of faith.
He fought a good fight of faith with kidney stones for about 6 years until his faith prevailed.

Without medicine and surgery, he emitted painfully hundreds of stones troubling his kidney one after the other until he passed out the very last one.

His faith was in the word of God.

James Salter commented, "Throughout the whole period of his trial, his confidence was expressed in the words of Job:
'But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold' (Job 23:10)."

Later, at 85, he had sunstroke. The doctor thought he might die, but God healed him miraculously without medicine and surgery.

(I believe God heals in 3 different ways, namely: i. naturally ii. scientifically iii. supernaturally. Read my book: "Ten Things You Should Know about Healing").

In fact, after this tough experience, Romans 8:11 became a living reality and rhema to him.

It reads, "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you" (Romans 8:11).

ii. Satan has a strong influence in the sickness that you are not prepared for at the moment or that you are not aware of.

Some years ago, I asked a young man to bring somebody whose son was dying so that we could talk to him first before sending prayer missiles to his wherever he was.

The man had just gone to drop his son (and his wife, I think) at the renowned University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital.

He was in a critically hopeless condition.

As he sat with us, I told him he needed to repent of his sins and serve God so that Satan would not kill his son.

Then when we were still praying for the boy, the man's phone rang.

Lo and behold, it was his dying son calling his dad. He couldn't talk but God's power had hit him very far away where he was.

The man who brought him walked about our living room in excitement exclaiming that it was a miracle!

The healing had just begun, but they refused to persevere. They cut off from us. So I didn't want to bother them. Unfortunately, the boy died [see Mark 8:22-25.]

I remember the story about Evangelist Mehesh Chavda ministering healing to a blind grandma led by a little girl.

The meeting lasted 7 days. For 6 nights, God's power knocked this old woman down and she got up still blind.

On the sixth night, Chavda wished the girl had not brought her forward for prayer again because the miracle has refused to happen!

Surprisingly, on the seventh and last day of the meeting, when the evangelist prayed for her as usual, she fell down, but rose up with her eyes opened!

So Chavda inquired of the Lord what really took place. And the Lord revealed to him the picture of an octopus-like demon with 7 tentacles.

Each night he prayed for her a tentacle was removed. One tentacle one night.

So on the seventh night the last tentacle was yanked off and got up seeing. Hallelujaaah!
(See Mat 17:14-21).

iii. you don't know the missing link or know the immediate thing to do to receive healing (Jer 33:3).

SINNERS CONFESSION
If you are not yet born-again, say this:
I choose to repent today. Also I choose to believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose up for my justification.
The Scripture says, If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom 10:9).
Therefore, I believe in Jesus in my heart and confess Him as my Lord. Now I am born-again (Amen).
 
SAY THIS ALOUD TO RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
Also Jesus said, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses (Acts 1:8).
And on the day of Pentecost All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).
Therefore, I receive the Holy Spirit by faith right now and I begin to speak in an unknown tongue (unlearned tongue) as He gives me the utterance.
I command every foul spirit [spirit of fear, spirit of unbelief, spirit of doubt, religious spirit, unforgiving spirit] wanting to hinder me to stop in its evil operation in my life in Jesus name.
Thank you God for filling me with your Spirit in Jesus name (Amen).
