THE ETHEREAN MISSION IS "NEW AGE", BEWARE
by Daniel Dela Dunoo
5/29/2015 / Christian Apologetics
"Jesus answered, I am the way, the truth and the life; No man comes to the father except by me" (John 14:6).
The Etherean Mission is a religious sect foundered by a Ghanaian named Ishmael Tetteh and which has close ties with many New Age groups in the United States. The Etherean mission is everything but a church. Yet it posits itself as a church, quoting frequently from selected portions of the Bible to support some of its doctrines whiles denying many central beliefs of Christianity with the laughable, yet deceptive claim that "not all of the Bible is God`s word there are many errors in the Bible".
Its mantra has been, "Etherean Mission: The Church of Spiritual Empowerment". What an abnormally since in the next breadth, they make the following emphatic statements: "The aim of the Etherean Mission is to see a unified universe, which embraces all men irrespective of race, creed or culture". "Our broadminded approach enriches us with great wisdom from all religious traditions". These assertions are nothing short of New Age doctrines. This will be shown much clearer pretty soon.
As earlier noted, Etherean Mission deceptively claims to be a church (the true church for that matter) whiles lashing out at Christendom. Little wonder in advertising their meeting days and "talk shows", they unashamedly state thus: "There is one main Church Service on Sundays and a mid-week crystal meditation and Prayer service on Wednesdays".
The New Age Movement
Matt Slick makes the following assertions about the New Age Movement:
The New Age Movement (NAM) has many sub-divisions, but it is generally a collection of Eastern-influenced metaphysical thought systems, conglomeration of theologies, hopes, and expectations held together with an eclectic teaching of salvation of "correct thinking", and "correct knowledge". It is a theology of "feel-goodism, "universal tolerance" and "moral relativism". In the NAM, man is central. He is viewed as divine, as co-creator, as the hope for future peace and harmony" (carm.org).
According to Wikipedia, "the New Age Movement is a Western spiritual movement that developed in the second half of the 20th century". It further states that, "Its central precepts have been described as drawing on both Eastern and Western spiritual and metaphysical traditions and infusing them with influences from self-help and motivational psychology" (Wikipedia.org).
You will note similarities between the doctrines of Etherean Mission and the New Age Movement. This will become clearer. The point however be made that the Etherean Mission is perhaps one of the sub-divisions of the New Age Movement.
Consider some of the outrageous yet obviously New Age claims of the Etherean Mission which dares to call itself "The Church of Spiritual Empowerment".
"I speak with you as a Christian whose heart is troubled at the many people who go to church daily and yet have missed the mark to what salvation is" (Ishmael Tetteh - Founder and leader of Etherean Mission).
"We believe in a unified world that is run by an absolutely loving, omnipotent and Omniscient Father- Mother God whose kingdom embraces everyone, irrespective of their race, religious creed or culture" (Etherean Mission).
"We believe that this God cannot contradict itself by creating another power, a so-called devil, to oppose Him or haunt her children. So, whatever your background, Etherean Mission (Heavenly Mission), is the place for you and you are welcome" (Etherean Mission).
"Our vision is that of a unified world in which everyone is a catalyst, activating and promoting the innate good in one another"(conscioushumanity.org).
"We are here to promote the finest state of spiritual existence and activate the kingdom of heaven which is already present and full in everyone on earth" (Etherean Mission).
"There are many errors/falsehoods in the Bible" (Ishmael Tetteh).
The above are but a few of the New Age claims of Etherean Mission. Do these have any semblance with Biblical Christianity? Absolutely not! Sadly the Biblically ignorant are deceived into thinking otherwise and into believing obvious distortions served to them as the Gospel truth.
It is worth-noting the fact that the New Age Movement is strong and gaining further grounds in the Western world in its various forms and shades; it seeks to spread its tentacles globally and the Etherean Mission is without a doubt one of its "missionary vehicles'" to recruit the Biblically ignoramus into their fold.
A religion that embraces doctrines from diverse religions, while discarding doctrines that are obviously contradictory is a man-made religion with its man-made dogma and rules. It is apparently Anti-Christian and the Christian does well should he or she never entertain the blasphemous and anti-Biblical doctrines and practices of organizations and religions such as the Etherean Mission. Simply put, Etherean Mission is NOT Christian; it is emphatically New Age and relates well with other New Age Organizations in Ghana and abroad. Beware!
"Jesus answered, I am the way, the truth and the life; No man comes to the fathers except by me" (John 14:6).

Why not focus on your own faith, instead of trying to discredit others? Is God limited to the Bible? And is God your personal property? Be careful because there’s just a thin line between pride and knowledge. 2021-03-15 |
