An Unreasonable God?
by Olawale Ogunsola
5/21/2012 / Relationships
When our Creator does a great thing that is beyond man's comprehension, man wrongly concludes that there is no reason God should do what He does.
To man,it is not reasonable that a prisoner can become a President,Prime Minister or a Governor of a country or state of which he is not a citizen.
The truth is that God does reasonable things every minute. He has His own reasons for doing what He does which may be contrary to man's.
Why are man's reasons different from God's? This is partly because man is finite and God is infinite. God is the Creator but man is a Creature. Isaiah 29:16 states,
"Surely,you have things turned around!
Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay;
For shall the thing made say of Him who made it,'He did not make me'?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,
'He has no understanding.'?"
This is the clear description of the position of many people with their Maker. These believe that because of their wealth, position, education, fame, wisdom or intelligence, they are better than God or at least equual to Him. This is nothing but seer arrogance.
Every man/woman must know that
"The secret things belong to the Lord our God,but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever,..."Deuteronomy 29:29
It is those who fear and humble themselves that are with His secrets. They know His reasons for doing things, not those who are arrogant and stiff-necked.
Do you know that He also wants to show you some of the reasons? He invites you when He says,
"Come now and let us reason together.
Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow,
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool." Isaiah 1:18
This can simply be put as "come now that you may understand some of the reasons for My action or inaction. Let us resolve the sin issue in your life.Let me wash you and you will be clean." The washing and cleansing He summarised as:
"Most assuredly,I say to you, unless one is born again,he can not see the kingdom of God." John 3:3
That is the message of salvation. You must realise that you are a sinner. Then confess, repent and forsake your sins.Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
This marks the beginning of reconciliation between God and you.Being reconciled with Him through Jesus Christ puts you in position to understand the reasons for every action of His and that
"all things work together for good to those who love God,to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28.
You will be humble enough to know that
"Our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases" Psalm115:3
Therefore, know that God is a reasonable God if you humble yourself before and submit to Him;you will see things with His eyes.
