Jesus Christ--Savior for all people
by Wesley Pierce

Isa 53:2-12
2) He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
3) He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4) Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.
5) But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
6) We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7) He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
8) By oppression and judgment he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken.
9) He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.
10) Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
11) After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.
12) Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
(a remarkable prophecy of Christ's purpose for coming to earth, written approximately 700 years before he was born...God's Spirit speaking through Isaiah)
Luke 24:46-47
46) He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,
47) and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
John 6:51
51) I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
John 10:14-15
14) "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me
15) just as the Father knows me and I know the Father and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Rom 5:8-10
8) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9) Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!
10) For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
2Cor 5:20-21
20) We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.
21) God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Gal 1:3-4
3) Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
4) who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
Eph 2:8-10
8) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God
9) not by works, so that no one can boast.
10) For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
(we do not gain salvation by "being good" in order to earn God's favor. Only accepting God's gift of the blood of Christ shed on our behalf purifies us in his eyes. After realizing this truth, then we are to gratefully make good deeds a part of our lives)
Col 1:13-14
13) For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
14) in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Heb 2:9-10
9) But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
10) In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.
1Pet 2:21-24
21) To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
22) "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
23) When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.
24) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Heb 5:7-9
7) During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
8) Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered
9) and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him
Heb 10:7-10
7) Then I said, 'Here I am--it is written about me in the scroll--I have come to do your will, O God.'"
8) First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made).
9) Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second.
10) And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
(speaks about Old Testament law and animal sacrifices being replaced by New Testament grace and blood-of-Christ, whose obedient sacrifice was "once for all" the world, and final)
1John 4:9-10
9) This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
