Male Predators on the Prowl, Be on the Alert
Some middle-aged, single, successful women find themselves in a position where they are involuntarily driven to become victims of vicious male predators, who are masquerading as Christians, as they prowl around, looking for vulnerable preys.
Sally Jordan, an entrepreneur and very successful business woman of Brooklyn NY, was one of those women, who regrettably fell into this faction. Until her horrific experience, she spent all her waking moments within the vortex of certain conditioned demands. Her life was so streamlined that she never ventured outside the confines of her own created professional cage, which rested on her busy daily schedules.
In spite of her stringent and compact working calendar, she had a great sense of humor, a genuine sense of social justice, a magnanimous love for life and took her mishaps with great equanimity. Although she had climbed the ladder of academic and career success, she realized she had been chasing a very deceptive shadow of loneliness, while age was stealthily creeping up on her. This propelled her to anxiously start a husband seeking venture, which landed her in the paws of a ravenous predator, who was on the prowl, looking to exploit any vulnerable prey that came his way.
Because of Sally's busy work schedules, she orchestrated her pursuit by registering with an online dating service. She revealed the truth about her character and life-style and indicated all the specifics she was looking for in her soul mate, emphasizing that he must be a selfless man of God, with good moral values.
Within two days she had received a response. This man, who later introduced himself as Sheldon Grey, presented a picturesque view of himself, which attracted her attention. Sheldon, a Barbadian business man, claimed he was an ardent member of the Seventh day Adventist Church, looking to meet a free spirited woman of integrity, with whom he would like to share a peaceful life.
The communication level between these two intensified so swiftly, that it climaxed into a love affair and within two weeks, Sheldon purchased an airline ticket for Sally to spend 3 weeks with him in Barbados. This was an unusual and exhilarating experience for Sally, so she was full of excitement. It created an internalized frame of mind, which generated the basis for her enthusiasm and great anticipation for a successful future with Sheldon, among the other desirable mental and emotional states she had hoped to achieve during their relationship.
All arrangements were made between the two and, on a cold Wednesday morning, Sally boarded her flight at JFK on her way to Barbados. She was bursting with elation at the thought of meeting her new found love. The thrill of taking her life to another level escalated as she nestled into her seat. The thought of achieving another goal in her life gave her a feeling of contentment, as the aircraft soared in the sky, on its way to the Caribbean.
Upon her arrival in Barbados, after clearing immigration and customs, she proceeded to the arrival terminal, with her eyes diligently perusing the place for Sheldon, who was not there as yet. So she sat in the arrival lounge, reading a magazine, while she waited for him. Sally was deep in her thoughts with her head down, when she felt the presence of someone standing next to her. Startled, she looked up and her eyes made contact with this wide-eyed, bearded faced, short, athletic man, whom she recognized as Sheldon, based on his photograph. Their meeting was warm and cordial, yet, Sheldon with a whimsical look, appeared to be a bit discomfited. Sally, for some reason, had a bad inward feeling but she overruled it with the idea, that he was probably shy.
Barbados, with a size of 70 sq miles and a population of approximately 300,000 people, is noted for being a tropical respite for visitors like Sally, who want to temporarily escape the pressure and burdens of life. It is endowed with great tropical weather and saturated with palm adorned beaches, along with translucent azure waters, which she was eager to explore.
On the way to his house, Sheldon drove along the palm lined roadways, and Sally was enthralled with the scenic beauty of the little island. He stopped at one of the beaches in St Philip, called Sandy beach, to give her a quick view of the great Atlantic Ocean, as the surfers and kayakers paraded its waters.
They remained at the beach for a while, during which Sheldon's mobile phone was ringing repeatedly but he refused to answer it. Sally, who was surprised at his action, asked why he was not answering the phone. He responded by telling her he needed to discuss something important with her. Sally insisted that he answer the phone, because she was tired and the noise was agitating her. Eventually he did and ,surprisingly there was a very stern female voice on the other end, asking Sheldon where he was. He boyishly responded by saying he was out, then she retorted that she was going to his house to see what he was up to.
Sally questioned Sheldon about the caller and he eventually told her she was his woman. In his own egotistical self-centered way, he claimed he was tired of her abuse. For that reason he brought Sally to Barbados, so she could help him get out of the rut he was in. Sally was so aghast at this statement that she began to tremble with fear. Her mind became invaded with all sorts of noisy questionable ideas, which perpetuated anger and confusion within her, yet she battled to control herself, and quietly asked to be taken to his house, because she needed to rest.
It took them approximately 45 minutes to get his house, which was located by the seaside in Weston St James. After a long and tiresome trip, Sally was anxious to unload her stuff and unwind, not knowing the horrific interference that was about to rip apart her idyllic dream and cast it into a heap of chaos.
Sheldon's home was not a welcome site; it was very eerie looking, with dust everywhere. Its unkemptness made it appeared uninhabitable. It had dirty dishes everywhere, broken window panes, partly unhinged doors, water stained walls and roof and derelict chairs.
Within 15 minutes of their arrival, a tall, wide mouthed, middle aged woman named Jasmine DaCosta, who appeared to be demented, burst into the house, furiously cursing and swearing at Sheldon. With undisputed authority she introduced herself as his mistress, asked Sally to leave the premises and threatened to throw her and her belongings out, if she did not immediately comply.
Sally was mortified at the whole scene but remained composed, as Jasmine cursed and vented her feelings. Jasmine was so infuriated that she grabbed Sally's luggage with the intention of throwing it out of the house. Sally intercepted and demanded that Jasmine leave her belongings alone. Sheldon, on the other hand, kept beseeching Jasmine to calm down but she wouldn't, because she perceived him as a cheat and a liar, while on the other hand, he appeared as scum in the eyes of Sally.
Jasmine was out of control, she was acting really deranged as she unleashed all the lethal venom that was bundled up in her. As she mollified her inner pain and emotional hurt, she made herself a public exhibit in the vicinity and everyone stared in dismay. Some on-lookers whispered and laughed at the whole scene but, she was so fumed with anger, that she blatantly bellowed and cursed both Sally and Sheldon without any remorse.
Based on Jasmine's angry disclosure, Sheldon appeared to be a Casanova, who had continually cheated on her, while he indiscreetly imposed on her good values. They were involved in a turbulent relationship for about 11 years, of which, most of the time, Sheldon tend to maintain detached contact, whenever a new prospect was on the scene. He conveniently slept with her the night before Sally got there and she boastfully displayed the love bites, with which he discolored her neck, during their passionate love-making. Jasmine depicted a character of low self-esteem and Sheldon was very nonchalant as she unveiled his shrouded, fictitious, despicable character. The whole scene was so horrendous, that Sally was sick in her stomach with shame and anger. She felt disappointed and betrayed.
Jasmine's shameless revelation about life with Sheldon caused Sally to feel as embarrassed for her, as she was for herself. It was so obvious that the fundamental cause for such degradation was due to Sheldon's self-centered activities. Sheldon's conniving plan was not properly coordinated, so it backfired and exploded in his face, leaving him so guilty, that he couldn't free him or Sally from the entangled web, he had weaved around them. His habitual thought practice of selfishness was mainly to be blamed. His ravenous soul could not have allowed him to take a journey within that place of sacredness, where he could have freed himself from lies and deceit, to practice honesty and chastity.
Throughout the entire episode Sheldon appeared smug, he never made any special effort to stop Jasmine and neither did he ask her to leave. Because of the prudent look on his face, Sally couldn't determine whether he was afraid of Jasmine, or ashamed of his unfaithful and deceptive conduct. Sally felt unprotected and fearful for her life, so she called the airline and arranged for a flight out of Barbados next morning.
It was already dark and Sally being a stranger on the island did not know her way around, so she asked Sheldon to take her to a hotel near to the airport, where she would be safe. He was very reluctant to do so but Jasmine insisted, because she wanted Sally out of the house. Not wanting them together by themselves, Jasmine accompanied Sheldon, as he transported Sally to the hotel.
As sad and betrayed as Sally felt, her inward strength caused her to maintain her dignity and to exhibit courage, while Jasmine continued her tyrannical outbursts in the car, on their way to the hotel. Although she was overwhelmed with such horrid pressure, the tranquility Sally displayed, created a quantum shift from a conventional mind set given to arguments, quarrels and war, to that of inner peace and tranquility.
The whole experience taught Sally to open the gate of an ever increasing inward awareness and channeled her into a holistic state, to help her tap into her deeper self, so she could make wiser decisions in the future. Though she was angry at the Lion, who deceptively invited her into his den to maul and devour her, she thanked God for the roar of the lioness, which came at the appropriate time, to stop the feed.
Sally was relieved when she left the presence of Jasmine and Sheldon, more so, when she boarded her flight back to NY the next morning. She left the island with perturbed feelings, tear-filled eyes and unanswered questions but, with a thankful heart and a different mindset. Such traumatic experience had taught her to be very cautious in proceeding with future relationships and to delve deeply into the hidden harmony of her deeper consciousness, so she would never make such a life threatening move again.
More like Sheldon may be on the loose but many like Sally should be on the l
