An Event Satan Regrets
by Dale Linton
2/15/2011 / Bible Studies
Luke11:14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.
Luke 11:15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.
Luke 11:16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
Luke 11:17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.
Luke 11:18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
Luke 11:19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges.
This account of a group of people making the accusation that Jesus was operating on the side of the devil, was a day and an event, I believe, that Satan regrets. The group that brought up these charges were obviously prompted to do so by devils, or Satan
himself. This story may be seen as a battle plan strategy that backfires in the face of the devil. Jesus reveals one of Satan's most effective tools as He responds to the charge brought against Him. Bringing it to light and it being recorded in the annuals of eternity is the last thing Satan wants. The tool the devil attempts to use against Jesus is called "division". In a masterfully quick dissertation, Jesus turns the tables, revealing the purpose and the mechanics behind the strategy of what He is being accused of. But the real reason Satan wouldn't want Jesus broadcasting this is because, division is extremely effective in destroying lives; but not as much as when the victim isn't aware of division being applied against them. Satan ,utilizing deception, operates most effectively in the shadows of our spiritual unawareness. What he regrets and hates is for the knowledge of the truth to expose what he is and how he operates .
By using this information, we may receive more spiritual awareness and insight into Gods word. Consider this:
1Timothy 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
Here are three things listed that have the potential to be divided; the heart, the conscience and faith. In addition to that, these three have a relationship and a working order with one another. So if one experiences a division, the other two are impaired. In fact, the heart is the mechanism where the conscience and faith function:
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
A vital characteristic of what would be a "true heart" is that of being capable of "drawing near" in a full assurance of faith. This heart is able to draw near through a power called faith operating within itself. An evil conscience is residing within a heart that needs sprinkled, and may receive that sprinkling by drawing near in a full assurance of faith. We can see Gods operational unity here which serves to defeat attempts to stop our spiritual growth.
Division That Attacks These Adjectives ; Pure, Good, and Unfeigned
The first of the three words susceptible to division is the "heart":
Hosea 10:2 Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Surely, one of the most challenging things to be ,as a Christian, is that of allowing God to give us a pure or whole heart. This purity is accomplished when our thoughts and our emotions are married together with His will. His will becomes our will and His desires become our desires. This condition may be described as having the mind of Christ or feeling Gods pleasure. This experience and unity with the LORD has us, either on the road to, or already involved in "our purpose"!
Flowing into the second word "conscience"; see the relationship between heart, speech and conscience.
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
A heart that attempts to speak good things and yet is surrendered to evil; speaks lies in hypocrisy and has its conscience seared or rendered insensitive. A seared or branded conscience is a product of hypocrisy, and is labelled an evil conscience. An evil conscience may be seen in one who thoughtfully knows to do Gods will but emotionally follows desires that are divided from their God given thought knowledge. Maintaining a good or pure conscience is found in a person that remains unified in and with the knowledge of God.
Last, but certainly not least is the word "faith".
Faith is a word that describes the process of the truth entering into our spirit and planting , as do seeds. Through Gods timing and orchestration these seeds of truth "break the surface" showing forth the power, the life and gift giving abilities that are Gods character. We then experience the direct communication from what may be called a "heart to heart". Gods word says we "hear" this truth and all its attributes in a heart changing revelation. We experience power, we experience life and we experience love on a scale that captures our full attention. We are in Gods presence............. But there's more, what we're hearing is called "the knowledge of the truth" and its character is "understanding"! Having the knowledge and the understanding of Jesus is an amazing experience that our words struggle to describe. Here is where our hearts experience a perfect unification of thought and feeling, for which the switch we cannot find........ This is where Satan enters in looking for any crack in our understanding. The devil trys to divide us, first inwardly and then outward. If Satan can accomplish de-railing this process then he will have "feigned our faith". He does this primarily through an attempt to counterfeit what the truth has begun, using worldly substance, for which we have an attraction. If Satan cannot stop the product of the truth by using lies ,then he looses on a major scale. This happens when the knowledge and the understanding of truth motivate us to action. We show forth Gods wisdom, we produce Gods life, we overcome by Gods power but most importantly, we demonstrate love in a character of sacrifice by Gods love, which is...................CHARITY!!!!!
1Timothy 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
