WHAT AM I DOING HERE?

by
8/07/2010 / Testimonies

Last night about 8 PM, my nose started to bleed. I thought I was done with this bother, but no, here it was again. I tried everything I could to stop it but I could not. After a counsel with Eloise, my support system, I went to the emergency room. This was the third time I had been there for the same problem. I asked myself, "What am I doing here?"

As I waited in the lobby of the ER, there was a lot of unhappy action. One happy thing I noticed was a man who walked out with a hand and finger wrapped. The ER admissions man said, "You saved it eh?"

"Yes, the tall man answered" as he walked out.

A man in his PJs came in and took a seat. He did not look happy and soon his wife joined him. Next, a Dad brought in a little girl with a cut leg or foot. A worried Mom and other kids soon joined them in admitting.

I was taken into a cubical and settled on a gurney. I have to admit that I was a little discouraged and that is when I wondered why I was here again. For a moment, I even wondered how good it would be to go to be with the Lord and have all this type of thing over forever. It was a moment later when I heard a child cry. Maybe I am here to pray for this frightened child. I did, as well as praying for her caregivers. Soon, as they ministered to her the crying stopped.

The Doctor and nurses came in and began to work on me. They stopped the bleeding and cauterized the blood vessels. The nurse was just about to dismiss me for home when the blood began to flow again. It was then that I heard a baby crying. Well if I must stay, then I will pray. Soon the baby also stopped crying.

Next, the Dr. stopped the bleeding, packed my nose, and told the nurses to dismiss me to go home. I had two great nurses but when they came with the paperwork, my nose decided to gush again. They worked on stopping the bleeding and gave me a pain shot for the next procedure. As I lay there I heard a man's voice from the next cubical. He had a deep voice that could have belonged to a pastor or radio announcer. I prayed for him even though I did not know why he was there.

Finally, the Dr. put a balloon in my nose and stopped the bleeding. Also finally, the nurses came to check me out. No more blood, praise the Lord. One of the nurses and I shared our favorite bike routes around town. He was a biker and a fine nurse. My head nurse was kind and I knew that she really loved people and helping them.

I send a big shout out to Yavapai Regional ER staff for another job well done.

Now I know why I was there. As I was thinking about this, a medical helicopter flew over on its way to Phoenix. I prayed for the patient, nurse and pilot that all would go well. I intend to continue praying for them, as well as fire trucks and paramedics as they go about their holy work. Thanks to you all.
