Sensitive boys
by Unami Magwenzi
7/18/2010 / Mens Issues
Please let us be careful,
Please let us not presume,
That what you see is what you get,
That a man on the outside
Is a man on the inside.
Let us not presume
That grown men do not cry.
Before a man comes to be,
He is first a little boy.
He then grows up and is socialised,
He is told that men don't cry,
He is chastised for showing his emotions,
He is called sensitive and too emotional,
And so he retrieves into himself,
And becomes hard on the outside,
Sensitive boys, please let them be.
Grown men out there please stand up.
Real men out there please speak out,
That sensitive boys become sensitive men,
But that it takes guts to separate yourself,
To stand against the norm and let yourself be,
And say 'Yes i cry, yes I have feelings and yes I am still a man'.
Sensitive boys, become sensitive men,
Become sensitive husbands,
Become sensitive leaders and create sensitive nations.
Sensitive boys, please let them be.
