A Letter to President elect Obama
by Scott Sheets Dear Mr. President-elect Obama, Congratulations on your historic victory! I want to let you know that I would like to do my part to contribute to our great American heritage in the years to come. I recognize that some failures have marred our past, like slavery. Dehumanizing a whole segment of society certainly tainted our nation's history; yet, I have hope for our future even though I have similarly experienced such dehumanizing. I look forward to the day we move beyond these travesties and treat all segments of society as persons with rights. I will certainly do my part if given the chance. I feel a great affinity with you, President-elect Obama, because you have had to overcome great obstacles to accomplish what you have accomplished. I know if I want to succeed in life, I also will have to overcome great obstacles. You see, I am young and inexperienced, as well, and many won't even give me a chance. Even my mother and father want nothing to do with me. Some go so far as to say my life's not worth living. However, deep within my beating heart, I know that's not true. I believe I have a great deal to contribute to my country if given the opportunity as you have been. I love life, Mr. President-elect, and I believe I can make a difference. Your successful campaign ran on a message of hope and change. I implore you with my entire being to adopt change that will bring me, and people like me, hope. We yearn for a future where currently we have none. Please, Mr. President-elect, let me live. I am a real person too. Sincererly, An Unborn Child Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
