Four Men of Resurrection
by thadd presley Resurrection by Thadd Presley Jesus and Lazarus were both raised from the dead. What can we learn from these two miracles and what does it bring to mind, specifically; and also from Enoch and Elijah, who were two men that never had to die in order to see heaven. In Genesis 5:22 it states that Enoch walked with God and in Kings chapter 19 it tells Elijah's story (also in 2Kings chapter 2.) Both of these men, Elijah and Enoch ascended into heaven without having to die. Jesus and Lazarus was resurrected from the grave, but, if you look close, something went different at their resurrection than what will happen at our resurrection. In the accounts of Jesus' resurrection, He was raised in His former body. We, on the other hand, at the Resurrection, are going to get new bodies. Also, it was the same with Lazarus, just as Jesus, he was raised in his old body. I have explanations for these two events, but I think we should get back to Enoch and Elijah, for a moment. Doesn't it say in the Bible that all must perish; that everyone is going to die, because of sin? Well, isnt this also true with Elijah and Enoch? So, how can they be in heaven; and while they are there, will they die there? They can't die in heaven, we know that. So, like it says in Revelations 11, they will be sent back to the Earth. First, they will prophecy for God and then they will be killed. It tells this story in Revelation Chapter 11. It also references the two witness -- that's what Enoch and Elijah have become, witnesses, because they are in heaven witnessing God and heaven and all that is there. Witnesses of God and of heaven and of the after life and of Jesus, isnt that wonderful. They are witness of everything, they have gotten a backstage look at creation. As for Jesus and Lazarus being resurrected in their own bodies, I have a theory for that also. First, we have to realize that when we are resurrected we are going to get a new body and that this body will return to the dirt; so we will have a new body and our old body will be in the coffin. But what about Jesus; when he got resurrected, His old body couldn't be found in the tomb. But, you have to realize that Jesus body was without sin; and in being sinless, it was able to return to heaven as it was. However, we, because we are sinners and our bodies have been corrupted by sin, must change from this corruptible body to an incorruptible body before we can enter heaven. Now, Lazarus kept his same body because he was resurrected back to the earth in order for Gods power to be known to the people; Lazarus was not being resurrected to go to heaven just yet. The reason of all this dawned on me because I thought, if Jesus needed His tomb opened to get out, after resurrection, than shouldn't I have a door on my tomb? I know it might seem childish, but, to me it seemed important at the time. Now, some will suggest that the open tomb is proof of robbers and not a supernatural happening. I can see the remarks coming from a mile away. But the truth still remains, Jesus was gone and even the Jewish guards told the story and were paid to stay quiet, which they couldnt do. When we see Jesus we will see the nail scars in His hands and in His feet, proof that it is the same man that walk on earth with us. And when we see Elijah and Enoch get killed in the streets and watch them, as they lay for three days in the street, without anyone burying them, then suddenly get up and walk around. Read it is Revelation chapter 11. We will know that they have to come back from heaven to be witnesses and to fulfill what the Bible prophesies. Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
