Lucy Mouse Learns to Share, a Children's Story
by Nancy Quinn

Lucy Mouse sipped her chocolate milk and looked over at the next table. Mandy Mouse sat reading a storybook. Mandy was a new student and just moved to town. Lucy always liked to make friends with new students because she remembered what it was like when she was new at school and had hoped she could make friends too. Lucy noticed Mandy didn't have any lunch, so she leaned over and asked, "Hi Mandy, where's your lunch?"

"Oh, I guess I forgot to bring my lunch." said Mandy. Lucy Mouse had two cheese sandwiches, so she casually offered one as she asked what Mandy was reading. They talked about the adventure book that Mandy was reading as they both nibbled their sandwiches and then snacked on the bag of cheese crackers from Lucy's lunch bag. Lucy Mouse noticed Mandy had a hole in her pink sweater, but said "I like your sweater. Pink is my favorite color." Mandy noticed the pink polka-dotted bow on Lucy's head and thanked her. The bell rang and it was time for recess.

That afternoon in class, Lucy Mouse noticed that Mandy didn't have a pencil when it was time to write the words out on paper that they were learning. She reached in her desk and found her favorite pencil to let Mandy use. Lucy slowly wrote out the words on her paper and was careful to write them very neatly. Sometimes she had trouble spelling words, but she always kept trying her best.

After school, Lucy Mouse invited Mandy to her house to do their homework together. "Wow, is this where you live?" asked Mandy. Her whiskers twitched as she stretched her head back to look at the tall steeple of the little white church.

"Yes. We live in the basement behind the ornament box. And we're never late for church on Sunday mornings!" The friends laughed and scampered down the steps. Their tiny backpacks bounced against the soft, grey fur on their backs as they raced under shelves and around boxes to Lucy's house.

That night as Lucy kneeled down and folded her paws in prayer, she thanked God for giving her a new friend today and for showing her how to share and make someone happy too.

Do you share and make people smile too like Lucy Mouse does? And there is something else Lucy likes to share with her friends the good news that Jesus loves you! Jesus loves you so much that He died on the cross for ALL your sins and He's just waiting for you to invite Him into your heart. All you have to do is pray the following prayer and invite Jesus to be your best friend and Savior. You are VERY special to Jesus and He loves you very much!
***************************
Dear God, I know I am a sinner. Please forgive me. I believe that Jesus died for me on the cross and that He arose from the grave so that I can live with Him in Heaven someday. I am now trusting Jesus as my Savior. Thank you for loving me and saving me. Amen.

I Timothy 6:18 "should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others."

May God bless these words as I strive to encourage others in their walk with Christ. Please contact me if you would like to request a specific lesson that Lucy Mouse can teach your children or if you would like a coloring page to be sent to match the story!
