Greatest Treasure
by PamFord Davis

It goes up; it comes down…

No, it’s not today’s temperature. I refer to the stock market; yes, it rises but it also falls. Do you follow daily reports? Employers have often offered stock in their big companies as an incentive to prospective employees. Many happily saw their nest eggs grow over the years. Maybe you have money invested and fear a catastrophic crash. When stocks climb investors hold tight. On the other hand, they sell when holdings lose value.

Some retirees learn lessons of investing the hard way. Family friend Audrey retired from Southern Bell in the 1980’s. As I recall, feathering her nest hadn’t given her the retirement security she’d counted on. Her brother fared even worse; he lost his pension when the large airline he worked for went out of business.

Is your future secure?

"Do not gather and heap up and store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal. But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Matthew 6:19-21 Amplified Version)."

We can trust God; He is a faithful provider. He has given us the greatest treasure; eternal life.
