PEACE THAT IS NOT OF THIS WORLD
by Lupie Riley
Freelance writer Lupie Riley Thought: With all the chaos in our world today, peace is a difficult thing to come by. The word peace means tranquility, harmony and security to all who search for it. It is found 429 times in the Old and New Testament and 91 of those times is in the NT with 24 in the four gospels. The Hebrew definition is referred to as Shalom with 200 in the Old Testament. Jesus used it 23 times in his messages. PEACE is a gift from God. This kind of peace comes with a personal relationship with Jesus. John 1:12-13 3:5-6 “But to all who received Him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they need to do was to trust Him to save them. All of those who believed this are reborn! –not a physical birth—resulting from human passion or plan—but from the will of God.” Jesus is called the PRINCE OF PEACE. Isa. 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born; unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder. This will be his royal titles: “Wonderful,” “Counselor,” “The Prince of Peace.” His ever expanding, peaceful government will never end. He will rule with perfect fairness and justice from the throne of His father David. He will bring true justice and peace to all the nations of the world. This is going to happen the Lord of Heaven’s armies has dedicated himself to do it! “ He is called LORD. 11 Thess. 3:16 “May the Lord of peace himself give you his peace no matter what happens. The Lord be with you all.” There is PEACE with GOD. Rom. 5:1,2 “So now since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith in his promises, we can have real peace with Him, because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. For because of our faith, he has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be.” This kind of peace can only come from God when we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His peace is not of this world. John 14:27. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” PEACE: Phill. 4:6,7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don’t forget to thank Him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.” Prayer: Father God, thank you for this peace that only you can give. Amen Verse: Psalms 118: 24 “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
