Rest for Our Souls
by PamFord Davis

“My soul waits in silence for God alone;
From Him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I will not be greatly shaken (Psalm 62:1-2 NASB).”

God provides rest for our souls.

“Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes arrogant;
Nor do I involve myself in great matters,
Or in things too difficult for me.
I have certainly soothed and quieted my soul;
Like a weaned child resting against his mother,
My soul within me is like a weaned child (Psalm 131:1-2 NASB).”

Peace and rest can be ours; they're found in a relationship with our Redeemer.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30 NASB).”

My hope is secure; there is rest for my soul.

“My soul, wait in silence for God alone,
For my hope is from Him (Psalm 65:5 NASB).”

Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind (Matthew 22:37b NASB).”
