Resting While You Work
by Tonja Taylor The payoff for meekness and Fear-of-God is plenty and honor and a satisfying life.- Proverbs 22:4, MSG ("Meekness," by the way is not weakness, but simply choosing to obey the LORD with a good and thankful attitude, trusting Him Who is perfect Love!) God promises riches, honor, and a satisfying life for us who obey Him. No matter how hard we word physically, we can rest in our souls, knowing that, when we are right with God and in His Plan, we are on target! So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. - Hebrews 4:9, NASB95 We can cease being double-minded; stop wavering on whether or not we are pleasing God. This can be quite tormenting, if we're not sure God likes what we're doing or not, or if we think we're wasting time and energy while we should be doing something else. Sometimes we know, and we are too scared to take God at His Word and do what He's asking us to do. Ask me how I know! Yet, when we truly submit to Him (and He helps us understand how to do that, and to actually do it! He is such a good, good Father!), He gives us such peace, and joy, and those can flood our souls. Our souls can be at rest, knowing that, even if circumstances don't seem to match or go right, we are in His will. Also, the only way we truly please God is to repent of our sin and believe in what the pure blood of His only Son, Jesus Christ (the only true Savior of the world; the Messiah) did to pay for our sins, and cleanse and cover us so that we can be pleasing to God. But He did! He did the hard work. He paid the price we could never pay. Hallelujah! Thank You, LORD! So our job is to choose to believe, and He even helps us do that, by His Holy Spirit. Praise Him! When we are troubled, we need to run to Him and His Word. He alone is the true Comfort in this life! God is not mad at us who have received Him, Who have become His children. Although He corrects us, as every truly good parent does their own, He always has our best interests in mind, and is not angry with us. He is helping us. He works good out of evil for us, His precious little ones, His heritage (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28). He can always be trusted. So, when we choose to trust in Him, from the beginnig of being born again, through every hour of our lives (every minute!), He will help us. It is a rest, and, as the totally trustworthy, unfailing, and unchanging, eternal Word of God says, "For we who believe [that is, we who personally trust and confidently rely on God] enter that rest [so we have His inner peace now because we are confident in our salvation, and assured of His power]... - Hebrews 4:3, AMP So, we have to deliberately choose to rest. A world-famous minister I know stated years ago that "Rest positions us for a new level of creativity." If you're not feeling creative, you're perhaps too busy ("left-brained"). Even Jesus took time to pull aside and rest. Spending time in the Word, with friends who love God, in worship, and--just like I did today--sitting a few minutes in the quiet sunshine, looking at the clouds, thinking about how good God has been to me all my life, and how He's gotten me through every hard time, will refresh you! Ask Him to help you, to give you wisdom, about how to find time to rest. I know you have a lot to do, and so do I. However, He is our First Priority, and as our loving Daddy God, He wants us first to be; to rest with Him, in Him. Go for it! Through books, courses, presentations, service, prayer, worship, and more, Tonja and her husband live to exalt God. Her series for girls, P.O.W.E.R. GIRL ADVENTURES, is now out (books I-V), along with LEGACY; YOUR HOLY HEALTH: VISIONS OF THE KING, and more. See the "River Rain Creative" YT channel. Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
