“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. Abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:4-8 KJV
With 48% of Americans saying they are addicted to their smart phones and with 30% increase in the time the average person uses their smart phone (4.25 hrs - 2023 over 2022) there is good reason to be concerned. There is a corresponding increase* in mental health issues, headaches, sleep and eating disorders, reduced physical fitness efforts and less time with friends and family are some of the major side effects of smart phone addiction, but there are other effects as well, like causing 1 out off every 5 traffic accidents.
Ask any Behavioral Health expert what makes smart phones so addictive, and they will immediately say "dopamine", and that means there will be a certain amount of withdrawal is to be expected when you lessen your smart hone usage.
Unless your addiction needs to be addresses by a mental health professional, the best way to detoxify yourself from excessive/compulsive smart phone use is to turn your phone off for a week and suffer through the anxiety that the withdrawal will cause, then start using your smart phone again in moderation, using the phone only for actual and necessary purposes.**
