GLISTEN

Whosoever gazes in my direction,

I pray will see JESUS

shining in my dark eyes;

to be that ambassador for my Savior

through life’s many lows,

and even a few highs.

All I crave is to

brighten, sparkle and glisten,

but not at all of my own accord;

it’s not about what tickles my fancy,

I just strive to empty myself

unto the LORD.

The Lord showers me in strength

when I’m weary;

when glowing in Him

seems quite far from the day;

like glitter, I glisten when He

summons me

to sparkle through moments of gray.

No matter how I rearrange my matters,

it’s all for not,

if I’m not abiding in Him;

it’s not even about the pretty words

or the metaphor,

just a simmering glow filling my cup

to the brim.
