SICK OF THE CINDER
by linzy bruno

Covered in cinder from head to toe;

so tired am I

of this stain,

bad enough when the sun is out,

even more exhausting

in the midst of rain.

Yet, still showering down love and honor;

believing it’s all worthwhile in this game,

I stand sick of this cinder;

my lilting song,

mocked,

and rendered as lame.

And although I take it all on;

through dark lenses,

never letting the sun go down with a fight;

sorrow still lingers in my heart’s chambers,

and gray cinders take over the night.

Oh so sick am I of this cinder;

wondering if this reign will ever come to a close,

I hang on the Vine

of my Father;

covered in gray particles

from my head

down to my toes.

And so in succumbing to Him that leads me

I see a new countenance,

so unlike running for the door,

I step out in the faith that envelops me;

fiercely Keeping at bay,

 the urge

to tally up the score.
