That's Not Your Job!
by Tonja Taylor I've heard that through the years: "That's not my job!" but usually, it's because someone doesn't want to take ownership of something they don't like--even if they should. However, there's at least one time as a true Believer that you can truly say this, to the glory of God! You may have guessed it: It's not your job (nor mine) to judge others. Yes, it's human nature, but when we are born again by faith in the blood of Jesus shed at the cross to save us from our sins, then the Holy Spirit of Jesus inside us can help us to rise above this (and every, if we cooperate with Him!) tendency to judge--and usually, to see others in a negative light. After all, we like to think we are somehow better than others. Says who? God sees all sin the same, as whatever is against His perfection of holiness; whatever is against His infallible, unchangeable, eternal Word. The answer to that question is: only people say that. The LORD is no Respecter of persons, and He loves everyone. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. - Act 10:34-35, KJV
He does not love nor excuse the sin of any of us, but He loves us all so much that He gave Jesus as a supreme and holy Sacrifice, so all people could be saved from ourselves and from the devil, and have a wonderful, close and eternal relationship with Him in Paradise; Heaven! For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.- Romans 5:6-8, KJV
So, if you have found (through the Holy Spirit revealing that, to help us be aware of when we are not allowing Jesus to live through us) that, like me, you have had a tendency to judge others (especially to see them in a negative light, and make yourself feel better), then you can repent, and ask the LORD to help you be very sensitive to His Spirit, and see others as you see.
Then, you can move to asking Him to help you love them as He does.
This is a progression for most people, including me! It is a daily exercise at first, and overall should be, for life.
We cannot do this by ourselves, but the LORD is faithful to help us! Amen!
For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.- Isaiah 50:7, KJV
Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.- Psalm 115:11, KJV
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.--Hebrew 4:16, KJV
So what is our job? To worship the LORD, to trust Him, to follow Him. To allow the LORD to flow through us to do good to others, so they will see His Love and be drawn to Him.
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.- Gal. 6:10, KJV
Go for it He will help you!
