SACRIFICIAL LIFE

Has the Lord is great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice," (1Samuel 15:22)

Through the above verse, we can clearly discern that God prefers obedience over the old sacrificial system. We no longer have need for the old blood sacrifices, as Jesus was our once and for all sacrifice, but that doesn't mean we aren't to live a sacrificial life, as we learn through the following passages--

"As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." (Romans 8:36-37)

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." (Romans 12:5)

"Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God  which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures,  concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;" (Romans 1:1-6)

"And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God." (Romans 6:13)

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." (John 13:15)

"Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 7:12)

"And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." (Ephesians 5:2)

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”" (Mark 10:45)

"Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;" (Proverbs 3:9)

"So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation." (Hebrews 9:28)

"For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it." (Luke 9:24)
